5:15 “The hero and the coward FEEL the SAME thing....It’s what the hero DOES that makes him different.” Now that’s powerful 🤯

I really like stoic ideas - very similar to Buddhism!

I like how Buddhists kinda talk in riddles but the stoics tell you explicitly so...

@@Browny84 Only Zen Buddhists talk in riddles as far as I know. One of the hand gestures of the Buddha actually means "no secrets" ;D

I Think there is a misconception: Stoicism Tries to utilize explicit logic/ Buddhism utilizes rather a kind of well trained intuition

@@gambini5777 Buddhism uses both, but emphasized the experience-based insight, as it influences your future behavior best

What makes Stoicism the ultimate mindset is because it's about looking at a situation for what it is and figuring out exactly what you need to do to get out of it. It's about accepting the truth, not sugar-coating it or looking at the "silver lining" or "bright side" but simply viewing life for what it is.

Wise people become stoic, but stoicism doesn’t lead to wisdom. Jocko himself has said he doesn’t subscribe to stoicism. Seek wisdom
@RobertF-3 жыл бұрын
Seeking Philosophy in general is what's important. Stoicism just happens to be one of the most fascinating philosophical systems of thought. But Philosophy itself is the incredible thing. The word Philosophy means "The Love of Wisdom".

Holiday's books are useful but in them and on this channel I've seen war criminals being glorified several times. It is just sad when you glorify mass murderers like Churchill just because they are from your own or an allied country. That's unjust, cowardly, not critical and not stoic. I have to improve myself too and catch myself when I do it, which sometimes happens. We humans tend to be cowards.
