These are pure golden nuggets of wisdom for living a better life! The sheer amount of knowledge packed into just under 45 minutes is absolutely incredible. It’s the kind of insight that might take months-if not years-to gather from various amazing people. I can’t help but feel immense gratitude for stumbling upon this now, though I wish I’d discovered it two years ago. This content is truly inspiring, and I deeply appreciate the effort behind it. Keep up the phenomenal work! 💖

“Meditations” was written over 2000 years ago… yeah, let that sink in a bit. 🤯 So you’d think we’d be a little (or a lot) further along as a species, but apparently most of us aren’t big “book learners”. 😢

In May 2022 is was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I always joke about how cancer saved my life, because even though I haven't recovered yet, it brought incredible clarity about what is important to me in life. How i want to live my life. NDE's can be incredibly life changing. It never fully clicked how fragile life is, until I was facing death. As difficult as it has been at times, I'm thankful, because if it hadn't happened, i might have continued living in a way where i was holding myself back. No more

Ryan still gets paid and those that aren't in a place where they can purchase the items, can borrow them for 2 or 3 weeks at a time. I wake up early, take the kids to school, go for a walk or jog and then listen to this everyday while I start my day at work. Even if it takes for 3 or 4 hours to get through because of interruptions. 2 years ago I was ready to call it a day in life. I felt like I had nothing.I found stoicism. Now I'm the happiest I've ever been. Because I realized I have enough and I love it all.

Doctor appointment tomorrow. I've got 4 swollen lymph nodes. 1 has been there over a year, the others for over 2 months. I'm scared out of my mind typing this right now. Regardless I'm going to wake in less than 6 hours from now at 4:57am and do my morning reading of "Meditations". All tests have been good except for 1 and that was a positive ANA. I hope it's all good. If it's in my control, it gets 100%, if it's not in my control, it gets 0%.

The Stoic lesson of 'Memento Mori' reminds us of the preciousness of each moment. It’s not about fearing death but about cherishing life. Let’s remember to live fully, knowing that each day is a gift. What’s one thing you’d do differently if you kept this in mind?

I am currently facing a rough situation of expecting to die in a few months, I was scratched by a stray cat a month ago and I didn't do anything until I felt rabies-like symptoms, tingling on the hand where I was scratched, headaches, etc. after 3 weeks since the scratch, so I went to the doctor and got shots by day 20 since I was scratched, then I was told it might be too late for the shots to take effect and that they aren't 100% sure if it would save me. At first I was sad seeing that I could die in a few months, but since I saw videos of this guy it made me appreciate my time left on this earth, made me more active, made me less sulky, made me do things I wouldn't do before, my life at the moment is like the quote "memento mori", so every second on this earth I try to treasure seeing that I won't be here anymore after 18 years of living . If I do live through this, it will serve as a lesson to guide me through the rest of my life.

You keep reminding me who I am. I had forgotten. 8:50 when my son was deployed in Iraq (the first time) I thought the worry would kill me. So I made up a mantra for myself. Every day, sometimes a thousand times a day, I repeated these words: “Worry is a story you tell yourself that never ends well.” (Which means if you’re going to make up a story in your mind, give yourself a happy end to celebrate.) With this and another mantra (“There is no crisis until there is a crisis.” And “I’m great in a crisis.”) every thing turned out okay. This is how I survived every stressful time in my life.

Great meditation to start the day- Victor Frankle describes our power as that moment of pause that we have before we respond to a situation. I have all of Vonnegut's books [the full "collection"] and choose to drive a Saab because his father was a Saab dealer and mechanic in Cape Cod. No finer "humanist" in the world than Vonnegut. Vonnegut's writing style is a blend of very mechanical and engineering type descriptions of the universe- anyone who can understand the inner workings of a car engine that runs on a blend of oil and gas has a profound tactile ability. His concept of the Karass and Duprass is timeless and universal.
