Audrey Hepburn one of my favorite actresses said “to plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.” Essentially I reckon she means she believes in hope for a brighter future! That is such a wonderful thought! I plant bulbs in pots because I live in AZ but when I lived in Northern climates I had a forest area behind the garden bed in the back of my home. I always dug up the bulbs every 2 years then planted them out there. Whatever made it made it. Some of them still grow 20 years later. We have visited a neighbor and since no walls or fences allowed in that neighborhood we can see that area clearly. I grew my bulbs in pots the first year in my garage which was cold no frost or snow. I found lilies were the hardiest. My favorite Rubriums. I no longer can garden due to health but I love watching you so TFS

I’m so excited to add tons of hyacinths this year to my garden. Last year I bought only a couple dozen bulbs because I thought they had to be spaced very far apart according to the package directions. But when they grow up big and tall they started falling over. I read that planting them closer together keep that from happening. So I’m going to purchase lots of those. Thank you for the inspiration for other types of bulbs to try.

Thoughts of the day...... - red tinged Pelargonium leaves happen when the temperatures start to drop, also happens to strawberries - so that I can still oil the wooden handles on hand tools I use bright electrical tape on the shaft of hand tools - I have a kitchen cleaning caddy for carrying about the garden, one side I have hand tools, string, secateurs, labels and pens etc. the other side is handy for packets of seeds and bulbs - blue bells and Muscari can both become quite invasive over time I'm loving your garden journey👍

I love your spring bulb plantings. It is sooo hard to say no to the pretty spring bulbs. I bought over 100 bulbs my first haul, then 2 days ago I found the clearance rack for spring bulbs!! Half off, yes please, lol. I love daffodils, whites are my favorites, but I love the unusual colors also. I picked up tulips and alliums. If that wasn't enough I bought 5 hydrangeas, and ordered 4 more. But, I have been on a mission this year, to organize my garden better instead of everything willy-nilly. Thanks to you I have been watching Monty Don and found Carol Klein. I love that you say " this is how I garden, not how to garden". Those are the best and most inspirational garden videos to me.

I planted some snake's head fritillary last year and they were pretty and although mine are in the ground they would look good in pots. Thanks again for a lovely video x

I do the same about the little spade and fork tools but I love a reason to have a new one and they aren't that expensive. When you find the old ones give 'em a good cleaning and then hang 'em in the greenhouse as a decoration or spare for next time you can't find the newest ones.

For your errant trowel, might I suggest a permanent springy cord that could attach to your gardening apron via a carabiner? I’ve seen UK mudlarkers use them for when they’re scratching at the foreshore looking for treasure, and the cord always means they are attached to the tool and won’t leave it behind.
