The Daisy is an extraordinary rifle. One thing that's often not mentioned is the ease of pumping. You just don't find that in other guns. Also, the accuracy is as good as you will find in the most expensive guns. I've taken apart Daisy 880's but never seem to get them back together again. I appreciate and admire the skills of those who can do it. Thank you for these videos and your obvious appreciation of this wonderful gun.

I agree, it is a well put together little gun.

Thanks a million! You just saved my butt. My grandson put BBs behind the bolt of our brand new 77XS, and jammed it. I'm not mechanically inclined so when I took off the outer covers, the pump handle retaining spring fell out, and I had no idea what it even was or where it came from. Then the safety fell apart. I was lost. The whole thing was junk to me after that. After viewing your video, I completely reassembled the gun and it works!! Thanks so much.

That is awesome, glad the video helped.

Bought your kit on ebay, and using your videos I was able to get another of these back up and shooting in just a couple of hours. There were a couple of tricky parts, but I prevailed! The gun was my brother-in-laws who passed away 20+ years ago. My wife and her mom will be happy to have his old gun working again, just for sentimental reasons. Thanks for the help!

Very good videos for working on the 880 or 901. Thanks. The main reason I took it apart was because it was shooting 4" to the right and I was trying to figure out why. Never did, but I did get it tore all the way down and back up. Thanks again.

Any tips on how to get the Pump piston assembly back together with a new Buffer? How to compress so I can the pin back in?
@JL-by4xu Жыл бұрын
I don't advise it. Takes a vise or a press. Easier to buy the complete assembly.

Thanks very much. The video was easy to follow and helped me a lot. My 880 is better than when I bought it.

Thanks for a very helpful video, but I if could make some comments (and these are meant strictly constructively for future videos!) ...if possible, lock your cameras focus at the standard work distance, so that it doesn't seek and allows video to go out of focus so often, and try to eliminate distracting background noise on audio (or bring up vocal)... Thanks for posting!

I didn't catch where you put the spring. Also I'm getting some blow back after I fire it and no air but when I pull the pin back I get air

I'm having an issue with getting the safety, spring and metal ball detent back in properly. They came out by accident. Any suggestions? Great video, only thing I couldn't see was whether you took the safety out or not.
@JL-by4xu9 жыл бұрын
+Greg Erway It is tricky, I place the spring with the ball on top and compress it to fit into the side cover. I had it apart in this video so you can see what I did, no good trick and the bigger your fingers are the harder it will be.
@gregerway83699 жыл бұрын
+Joseph Lewis After watching your video several times in the section where the covers for the receiver are put back on, I discovered that I was putting it in right but didn't realize when I had the gun back together that I had to pull the bolt back to get it to go into safe mode, Then when I closed the bolt I could snap it between fire and safe no problem. Works fine now... Thank you for the video and for the assistance,,,

Sir can you help me when I tried to put a pellet in the gun it didn’t go in all the way so I wondered why when I tried to shoot it it didn’t shoot out and when I took it apart a spring came out of we don’t know where
@JL-by4xu3 жыл бұрын
The most likely spring would be either the pump arm retaining spring or the safety button spring

Can the butt stock be removed by only taking out the 2 large screws and 4 small screws in the receiver? In other words not having to split the receiver halves apart? I want to remove and replace only the butt stock due to a manufacturing defect.

Then it is likely the old style, I also did the same video for it as well. There are also 880s that have one screw securing the stock but have new style internals.

Hello! I decided to disassembly my Daisy in order to shorten/lighten the trigger spring. I did not disassemble the trigger, just got the spring out with some pliers. However, after assembling, my rifle has the following issues, which did not existed before: 1. I can pump air BEFORE cocking the rifle. 2. I can make MULTIPLE shots after pumping for one shot. That is, I can cock, pump 6 times, make shot, cock, make shot, cock, make shot. Is this caused by the shorter/weaker trigger spring? Or by something else? I am really wondering because all disassembly videos seem so trivial that I am really doubting I messed up something by accident in the process. Thanks

have old red ryder bb gun. bb's wont shoot out. put coat hangr down barrel and think I have stuck bb. put onein and it went down to the slot. saw it fall down when I cocked it but will not shoot out. sprayd penetrating fluid down barrel and let it sit. still no luck. any idea ?
@JL-by4xu7 жыл бұрын
Sorry I am not as familiar with that model as the 880 and other models. The Red Ryder is a spring air rifle and a very different design than the 880. I have had rusted BB's cause problems before and something like that could be causing it to fail to feed, if however it is now feeding and doesn't shoot I would look at the seals.

i dont know if you still reply to comments but if you still do i need help with my 880, i disassembled by 880 to clear a nasty jam and when i re-assembled it the safety does not click into place and is freely sliding back and forth, its a major safety concern for me so if you have any tips i would be very great full, -jason
@JL-by4xu5 жыл бұрын
Do you still have the safety buttons spring and ball bearing? That is what holds the button in place, without them it will slide around as you describe.

Thanks for the info. I bought O-rings, oil wiper, and a buffer on eBay from you.I have an old style 880 and I used your video to tear it down, (not totally like you did), but when I went to put it back together, your reassembly video is for a new style 880. The pump assembly is way different. When I took it apart, I didn't find a plastic washer, only 2 metal washers, an o-ring, a buffer, and an oil wiper.(They were really torn up and gooey so it might have had a plastic washer). Do I need a plastic washer back in there when I put it back together?Also I am having trouble putting the barrel back in the barrel cover. It is extremely tight, but it came out - it's gotta go back in...right?Any help you could give me would be much appreciated.Thanks, John
@JL-by4xu7 жыл бұрын
The plastic washer behind the oil wiper was implemented around 2000 by Daisy, all the previous models did not have it. I like it as it keeps the foam oil wiper in place, but it is optional. I will be putting up a video on reassembly of the old style 880, just got to find the free time to do so. There are some tricks to the old style.

I want to change like that, because maintaining powerline daisy 88 can't.

The bottom of the pump tube on my 880 is completely different.. Are there diff variants? MIne is real old... 25+yrs I cant get the pin back in to slide the frame rail back in. It ALMOST goes back in if I push the frame rail on. It feels like its compressing a spring.Help?
@JL-by4xu9 жыл бұрын
+Eric Adams Yes, yours is the old style and the pump tube assembly is different. I plan on making a video this winter of a complete tear down and rebuild of the old style. It is tricky to get the pump tube back so that the pin can be placed back in. Might try looking for a video of that style, kinda hard to help in writing.
@mikebiorn96604 жыл бұрын
Great video! Did you ever make one about the really old style? I have one without the diamond on the forestock. This video was close enough that I could figure out the rest. I still have a few issues to fix. I also need a new wiper, so I’ll check out your eBay.

HI! THE SAME HAPPENS TO MINE A POWERLINE 922 CAL 5.5 ....+25Malachi Could be a lot of reasons, if it is leaking while you pump the O-ring on the pump head is a likely culprit. If you can punp it several times and hear it leaking while not pumping it is most likely the chamber seal followed in likelyhood by the exhaust valve. BUT COULD YOU BE MORE SPECIFIC....SENDING A VIDEO YOU FIXING THIS PIECES? MY REGARDS

@JL-by4xu7 жыл бұрын
It is likely that it goes into the safety button. There is a hole in the safety button that a small spring goes into with a small ball bearing placed on top to hold the safety button in place.
