You having no luck on your black knight? That should cast anything 2.5 grams and up at Good distance. Or 1/16 oz jig with a 2 inch plastic

I am glad to see you enjoying a more refined BFS reel. The difference is noticeable when you pay more for better quality and performance. That doesn’t take away from reels that cost less and perform adequately casting lures and landing fish. You should expect better performance when you pay more. That is when you can feel the difference that smooth casting and retrieval of a premium built fishing reel provides. They may not cast much further than less costly reels however; they should make it easier to do. I believe you will like using it even more once you use it for a while.

I definitely love this reel the most but I definitely love exploring cheaper options. I don't think I would wanna take this on the kayak at all. I would cry if drop it or bang it up on the kayak

Thx man! This was the Zephyr bfs rod 1.68m long. It's UL. I think there are some better ones like the kuying Teton line up. There are some that goes below 1 gram where as this is rated to 1 grams only. I can cast a trout magnet so I like it ^_^

Well, hope you enjoyed the new toy! Sorry about telling you brake setting 6 but 7 seems to be pretty good for most applications. Once you put that on your other rod I think you will be even more impressed. A little length and faster action will really boost the distance and accuracy but im sure you already figured that out. But you gotta agree its a fun caster straight out of the box. I figure for the money spent it should be. we shouldn't have to upgrade everything like we do on the china made reels. $60 vs $300+ big difference and overall it does well. Keep up the good work👍👍 If you want any info on rod choices let me know.

Definitely one amazing reel out of the box! But we can't deny that a 60 dollar cdm reel plus maybe 20 dollars bearing upgrade can do almost amazing. Not every can afford to have a reel like this. I couldn't normally and with my clumsiness I would likely wreck this very soon lol

Btw, I don't think i'll need an expensive rod for now. pretty much done w/ fishing gears lol. off to camera and computer stuff! season is ending and i'll just focus on fishing. hopefully with some fishing trips i can make some views and recover some money :P

Nice! Once you get the roro spool, you'll need to up the brakes a bit compared to the stock spool. I'm pretty sure it's due to the thinner smaller fixed inductor on the spool. I would love to have a sv style 5g or less aftermarket spool for the alphas air tw sv and hopefully we'll see that in the future. In my opinion it's a nice upgrade to the 2019 Daiwa Alphas Air CT, that metal frame and the weight just feels just right. By the way, nice size bluegills in that pond of yours.

I already gotten it lol. Unboxing video recorded and need to edit. Dunno when I can do the cast test as I am pretty backed up. The Chameleon dyi may come out with more spools. So far the tatula spool was good so I would expect more spools soon!

It's funny to see spool of line running all over the place 😂, i think it makes the line twist a bit, that's why I always hold it when spooling my reels.

It can for deep spools and spinning reels. Doesn't seem to matter much on a BC bfs reel. Fun stuff watching it go

I just received this reel. I too noticed the spool had line overrun when I released and dropped my lure to the ground to test the spool tension. Normally to prevent backlashes I would tighten the spool tension knob so there is no line overrun on the lure drop. They say the spool tension knob on the Alphas Air is preset at the factory and should not be adjusted. Did you adjust your knob tension?

Take that old school suggestion and use it for centrifugal braking only. This is how it works for magnetic braking. I tune all my non skipping magnetic reels like a Daiwa zero adjuster.

Depends which reel, this was imported from Japan but the store I gotten it from sold out. Most of my unboxing videos I would mention the seller if it was shipped well and priced well. This reel is high in demand and its always sells out fast!

Thanks to you I got my first BFS setup...Zephyr rod with Tsurinoya reel. I love it but I can not cast small lures. I backlash and if it doesn't it only casts a few feet. Any advice???

oh nice! can you be specific with your reel? Most Tsurinoya reels, you have to degrease completely for the two bearings and add high performance thin oil to prevent it from any corrosion. That should make it work better, but it really depends how small you are talking about. If you have watched my videos on my Tsurinoya upgrades, the micro bearings would be the best choice for light lures. this is the case for any CDM BFS reels! hope that helped, if not, feel free to provide more details and we'll explore the solution for you!

@@rawrfishing I got the XF-50L. I was trying to cast .3 gram lure at first with no luck. I plan on degreasing and applying high performance speed thin oil. The first couple were a pain but once I got the feel of it, it was awesome. The first night on Saturday caught 5 Bass dinks but on Monday night landed a 2 lb. Bass.

I don't think any reels that I can think of can cast .3 gram lures. even the JDM stuff high end is a challenge to do the 1 gram trout magnet challenge. But that reel isn't really a UL BFS reel, it's a ML bfs reel. You can buy the shallow spool from the Spirit Fox and put it on there. that would improve your casting greatly. The Spirit Fox is basically an XF50 with new colors and a more shallow spool. You can reference my SpiritFox videos for the different bearing upgrade options.

You can catch small fish on thin tree branch, BUT how does this rod do VS 3-4 pound fish ? (It’s for those you never know it could happen )

of course! i have done bamboo rod fishing before lol. as long as you fight it with proper drag, it will be fine. i have used more UL finesse rods than this and it landed 5 lb + fish. even got lucky with some huge toothy pickerels around that weight. (estimate only as i rarely weigh fish). some of them fishes have been portrayed in my videos within the last 14 months! enjoy

for the lighter lures yes! but if you throw things above 3 grams, it's best to have the larger diameter spool as it dispenses more line per rotation! hope that helps!

@@018132 not to me because I don't think it's necessary for me. If u fish in noisy waters like streams, it sure is beneficial to know when u need to control your drag to land that one big fish. But generally, ppl just want one ! There is a good aftermarket clicker kit for a out 80 bucks. If u watch hobie Wan kenobi channel. He installed the sagasi kit!

Abu Pro/Silver/Black Max 3 with a 30$ Ray's Studio BFS Spool(9 grams) and Abec 7 ceramic bearings...I can accurately cast a 1/64 oz trout magnet ALL DAY...

This reel is more for the finesse side. With the smaller spool. You would suffer from distance for your heavier lures. I would suggest the curado bfs reel ;) perfect for you
