Daiwa is usually underrated for max drag. Shimano is mostly overrated by 2kg. People who don't use a preset drag of 12kg don't understand this. On 6k reels with a max drag of 12kg, I never purchase a Shimano. Even on a Saragosa 10k with 15kg drag, it's about 12.5 to 13kg max. The craziest reel I ever tested was a 6k Daiwa Phantom Hyper reel. It produced 17kg of drag on average after 5 pulls. The highest being 19kg. Usually, not many people can hold 15kg of drag very long, but when you go for big kings, a 10-12kg preset drag is a must to turn their heads. Even then, sometimes some monsters keep turning the drag
