Interesting ideas with the UC. I think bigger brakes than mountain bike for the Dakota Hawk as it needs to be able to hold it for run up checks so light motor cycle brakes I think would be the way to go. Fibreglass tanks are okay as long as you are not planning on using MoGas with ethanol in it.

Can you just lay up the fiberglass over the tank plug, then dissolve the foam once it's dry? I used bike brake rotors with some Chinese pocket bike mechanical calipers on my MiniMax. Worked great! I think you want to jump up to motorcycle rotors and calipers for the Hawk. The bike rotors I think are too thin for the task. I like the O'Keefe brakes that came with my kit, very simple design. they use Rokon motorcycle brake calipers. But O'Keefe announced they are retiring and closing shop.

I saw how you can dissolve the white styrofoam but not sure how well you could get it cleaned out so you don't get any in the fuel line/filter.
