Dakota RT DIY longtube headers

modifying a set of 2nd gen dodge ram 1.75 pacesetter headers to fit in my 99 Dakota rt. it really wasn't that bad just had to remake 1 tube per side.

Well this a great video. I picked up a set of long tunes off a ram . My thoughts on fitment is ram wider . Don't need tight turns off the head. I did think that ame motor and trans should be close. I've have a few good parts. This really is good info, thanks THOMAS!

what can u do to eliminate weight in the front with the engine but still not deal with any codes being thrown ? I have a 98 1500 5.9 id love to make have a bit of horsepower from some easy basic stuff but i wasnt to sure on if you could delete the heater and AC stuff and abs and all that stuff

I wish they would have made shorty headers with 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 tubes. My Gibson shorties, fit and look nice, but like you said, only 1 1/2.

It really wasn't that bad and could definitely be a little better than what I did I don't know why pacesetter hasn't made a set for the Dakota.

Im going to try to do this on my 3.9V6 dakota In theory i can change to a different collector And cut one primary tube off and make them work on my v6 The gains will probably be huge compared to the stock manifolds my truck has

has anyone try some flat washers and a longer bolt for the motor mount I have a ram 1500 so I don't kno the Dakota set up but the 5.9s are the same bolt patterns for mounts

The setups are about the same. Idk if they share the exact same mount but if it's not it's really close.

Hey Thomas or anyone else that might know, I mightve already asked in a different video but do you know of the hooker 5803 header would fit the second gens? I've been told that it can, possible modification with a hammer is okay by me but they are advertised for the first gens

@@thomasbeyer yea I seen them and talked with the guy, the shipping on them is $130 so I was hoping those hookers would be at least a close fit. Plus he's only got one set right now (might be a sales tactic) but he can only order 25 minimum at a time so he doesn't want extra for good reason sitting around. I live in NY though so I'm gonna need a new cat, preferably a single 3 inch in and out. Would like to go up to a 3.5 or 4 inch but that's gonna be a tough to find cat

No longer unobtanium. Southeastrt.net has partnered with TTi and takes special orders for a header they developed specially for 2nd gen R/T Dakota and Durango.

Southeast RT is pretty much the only place to get long tube headers now. The pacesetters have been discontinued.
