Thanks for sharing the video, nice work! They make a fiber reinforced Bondo which works really well for those Humvee hoods. We fixed several Humvee hoods with cracks and broken chunks just like what you're working on however with areas such as what you're doing it's best to use a Bondo that has the fibers mixed into it for better reinforcement and it will hold up longer without separation. In a case like yours where you have the extra reinforcement behind the hood that you had to cut away if you would use the fiberglass reinforced Bondo and applied it liberally so it goes on thick and seeps through the holes well, if doing this you would have been able to eliminate the step of grinding out the back side to put a patch on and also it would have saved you a lot of time while still keeping the structural integrity in place.

also another tip when you go to redo the paint on the area you patched if you use a high Build primer first it does a really good job at filling in the imperfections which still may be left behind from doing the repair.

Look up how to make Fiberglass peanut-butter. That stuff works wonders for filling voids. I've used it in some boat repair and it works great!

dakota, put some gloves on while working with fiberglass. you will get lots of little bits in your skin
@teecon5696 жыл бұрын
you should just sand the inside and re-inforce it then just touch the outside up, cutting into the back side makes it weaker also I hope thats fiber glass putty

Hey, love the videos, love the HMMVs, do you sell them afterwards? Im looking into buying one, but im in Europe, so it would have to be road legal :) keep up the great work, and videos!
@Tobias6116 жыл бұрын
You can modify them to be road legal for Europe, though I am not sure if he is allowed to sell them outside of the U.S. since the Army reserves it's right to take the vehicles back after selling them in case they need them.
@RentABusDK6 жыл бұрын
Thats a good question, but someone has, theres currently atleast 35 for sale in Germany ;) What are they sold for ?
@Tobias6116 жыл бұрын
They are very expensive in germany, licensed ones go for 25-40k €
@RentABusDK6 жыл бұрын
Yup, thats why i want one from the US directly, i dont want some douche in Germany to earn a ton of money, on my fetish for unusual cars ;)
@Tobias6116 жыл бұрын
My thought exactly, I too want a Humvee from the U.S. , like... 40k for a Humvee in good condition? Hell, I can get one for 10k $US in the same condition, even with shipping and licensing I will be better off...
