Dal Bhat (दालभात) is one of the most common staple meals to eat in Nepal. A Nepali dal bhat meal normally includes rice, dal soup, vegetables, achar chili sauce, and the choice of other side dishes like chicken curry, eggs, chickpeas, or other meat curries. Dal bhat is delicious and filling!

My family and I went trekking a few weeks ago near Kathmandu; the scenery and food was gorgeous. Much like the Dal Bhat, we really enjoyed the traditional home-cooked food in the village restaurants near Nargarkot and Kathmandu mountains (trekking path). Sometimes the Dal that we were served was actually pretty thick and spicy! (love it that way too!)

+Rux By Thick and Spicy Daal = Thats called a 'tadka' or 'tadka wala daal'. Best served with Rotis actually. Make some buttered paranthas with spiced thickened yellow daal. You wont want to go back to normal daal. Ofcourse a little 'bhaat' (rice) on the side just adds to the flavor too. Soak it with the thickened daal and consume. To add some more flavor, eat this with spiced dried mango pickle. It is also a good idea to eat fried cauliflower with potatoes in this dish.

Hey, I have a pretty high tolerance for chilies and everything spicy, so I've never had cooked food that was too much for me. Depending on the cuisine though, lots of times you can just add chili on the side, for instance Nepali food wasn't very spicy, but they always had some chili sauce and fresh chillies on the side.
