Recipe :
Dal Dhokli Recipe:
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 3-4
Ingredients:
for dal:
1 cup toor dal (rinsed)
½ tsp turmeric
Salt to taste
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp coriander powder
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp peanuts
1 tsp mustard seeds
2-3 whole red chilli
¼ tsp asafoetida
7-8 curry leaves
1 tsp ginger green chili paste
1 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
2 tbsp jaggery
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp coriander (finely chopped)
for dhokli:
1 cup wheat flour
¼ cup besan
½ tsp salt
2 tsp oil
Method:
Pressure cook the dal with salt and turmeric powder till soft and mushy.
Knead together the atta and besan to a soft dough. Rest the dough for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile fry the peanuts and set aside.
Roll out the dough into chapatis and half cook the chapati.
Cut the chapati into diamond shape.
To the cooked dal, chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and ginger green chili paste, mix well.
Add cooked peanuts, small piece jaggery. and lemon juice.
Once the dal comes to a boil, drop in dhokli pieces and give a good mix well.
cover and boil for 5 minutes or until dhokli is cooked completely.
Heat the oil in a pan. add the mustard seeds, whole red chilies and curry leave and allow to splutter. Pour the tadka on the top of the dal. Mix in the chopped coriander leaves and serve immediately.
