I think my favorite moment is way more basic. His big moment in Oathbringer, not gonna go into detail due to spoilers, but that was so good! But that is a Sando climax moment, the culmination of three books of build-up and development, so it's a bit unfair. As I said, I'm basic.

If there's any anti-radiant in Roshar. It's Amaram. He believes it's destination before the journey, it's weakness before strength, it's death before life.

Love how it "feels wrong" for Dalinar to handle a blade, a brilliant foreshadowing i've never noticed.
@markchallman28682 жыл бұрын
Sanderson is amazing at foreshadowing, in WoR there's tons of foreshadowing but the one I like the most is the one that happened with Shallan in the caverns when kaladin and her were in the chasms

I've been trying to grasp why it feels wrong and I dont believe it is because its a shardblade, it is an honorblade, i think it feels wrong because the surges are there though he cant control them
@TheKartana3 ай бұрын
@@diegoundreiner6392 It's because he's approaching a bond with the stormfather. Same as the reason blades scream at kaladin and he unbonds it when bonding the stormfather, though not as strong because he hasn't bonded the stormfather yet.

@@TheKartanayes but what Dalinar is holding isn’t a dead blade, it’s Taln’s Honorblade. Kaladin safely holds Jezriens Blade after he takes it from Szeth so it shouldn’t be difficult. Maybe it’s just the Stormfather being irritable?

Dalinar has to be one of the smartest characters in fiction. He does not take kaladin’s loyalty for granted and returns it in a full measure of trust, which has been directly responsible for saving his life many times
@GerryBolger2 жыл бұрын
I love when Dalinar calls Kaladin 'son'. He was an awful father for so long that his paternal instincts are greater than may be appropriate, particularly in Alethi culture. But when Dalinar eschews propriety, he gets a pass. Who's going to correct the Blackthorn?

Two incredible moments in this short passage. First is the bait and switch of the apology. Dalinar's words at first feel like an incredible betrayal, only to be elevated a moment later to righteous vindication. And the second moment is Dalinar anticipating Amaram so well that he summons his blade an instant sooner.

It drives me insane how every time Amaram makes the "Accomplished fighters" argument no one points out that Kaladin is clearly more worthy and a better fighter. If not where is Amarams Spren?
@feritperliare28902 жыл бұрын
To be fair you don’t need to be a very good person to have a spren (shallan proves that) and you don’t need to be a skilled fighter either (shallan again) you also seemingly don’t need to keep believe the first oath(shallan) ok why is shallan radiant it seems more like nepotism than actual worth with her but yeah supposedly it’s more to do with personal worth than fighting abilities or getting preferential treatment

@@feritperliare2890 I doubt it the circumstances of the first are different than her flat out refusing to help. But we will never know she progressed as they wanted and in the end as she wanted. It seems that ur understanding of cryptics is a bit harsh. They do care especially early cryptics they sent the spren bc they knew what was coming. Yes cryptics are more open then other spren but the current generation would not stand for an evil host. Evil is up to interpretation but you would not see cryptic attached to someone who likes decapitating babies for fun. As an example.

As a visual person who likes to be able to read at her own pace, I usually avoid audiobooks as much as I can (I think also because I associate them with getting carsick on long car rides with my family), but listening to this and hearing that it’s even higher quality than I’d heard, I think I’ll need to go through Brandon’s books in audiobook format sometime. With something this high quality, experiencing the books through a different medium would help me understand characters from a diff perspective, just from hearing their voices, since I don’t really have precise voicing in my own head
