Accurate. In 30 years of barren football seasons the one constant for Dallas that has never changed is Jerry Jones. Doesn't matter who the coaches are, who the quarterbacks are, who else is on the team as long as Jerry is calling the shots. I've got no love for Dak but Jerry drafted him, Jerry signed him not once but twice to over valued contracts and now Jerry is stuck with him and the rest of this mess. And the fans keep giving Jerry money for this garbage. As long as the fans keep paying it for it, Jerry will never change. The only thing that will ever cause him to change is if that stadium is half empty on game day for multiple games a season and the merch revenue takes a huge hit. Let's just say I'm not holding my breath waiting for those things to happen though.

With holdovers from the pre-Jerry period
@ashleighelizabeth5916Ай бұрын
It's not just the 90s teams. While the last 3 yeas under Coach Landry were not good the previous quarter century under his leadership produced one of the all time great dynasties in football. From the late 60s until the mid 80s Dallas found almost unrivaled success and built a legend. Landry still holds a record that may never be broken of consecutive winning seasons. Sure a lot of fans were pissed at Jerry (myself included) for the way he treated Coach Landry but getting back to the Super Bowl so quickly and going back 2 more times smoothed a lot of that over. Of course when he fired Jimmy and the players could no longer make up for what a disaster Switzer was as a coach a good bit of that luster came off. But a lot of people assumed that the team had been down before at the end of the 80s and would bounce back to where they were. Of course everybody is still waiting for that bounce in this purgatory of good enough but not greatness and the reason why is because of Jerry. Jerry eventually figured out how to draft reasonably well but he never yet has mastered free agency and what's worse he's never learned to stop meddling in the game day roster decisions. The players know that and know that Jerry's ego will prevent them from being benched or cut and THAT is why the team hasn't been able to get over the hump. Coach Landry said that leadership was getting people to do things they didn't want to do to achieve goats that they did want to achieve. Jerry doesn't get that and never has.

It’s a shame that what could’ve been his best year/best chance at getting deep into the playoffs he got right before it started.. and now here we are.. don’t get me wrong the regular season was still fun in 2016 & Dak has had a lot of great moments but it’s been the same thing all my life. a bunch of expectations and then nothing ever comes from it.

The Cowboys are a dumpster fire. The players siblings calling Dak out last year and for good reason. That contract GEESHH! Hopefully for Cowboys they can trade his contract if there is no trade class that’s terrible GM Jones

But but Jerrah went all in this year. Been a die hard Cowboys fan since 1983. I'm done. Can't deal with Jerry's incompetence anymore. Paying that joke of a QB was my breaking point.

The cowboys will not even going to make out of the season. Jones should have kicked Dak out and trained Vance. It would have made it cheaper for him, and who knows, maybe a conference. Dak was surrounded by a great team for two or three years and couldn't even win a conference. What makes you believe he will make it this next year, because this year he won't. Dak is too much overpaid.

The Dallas Cowboys are the perfect example of how history repeats itself. World Champion Troy Aikman retired without the weapon depth with which he won three championships. Troy was replaced by a circus team and revolving coaches. Then Tony Romo surfaced and eventually brought the team back exceptionalism. Tony, single handedly on the field and with Bill Parcells on the sideline. Parcells brought in many weapons, some of which are enshrined. Tony remained the best player on the team for most of those years. Parcells retired, giving Wade Phillips a few years to dismantle the Parcells work of football perfection. Tony became a better player year after year, but he was winning games 42-40 week after week until his age and body expired. 2016 was the best team Romo would have won his Super Bowl with, but that lingering collar bone injury put dink and dime Dak under center. Dak was handed the keys to the best team in the league and he played a boring pass game all season while we all watched Elliott run the ball all over the field. Tony healed around November and should have kept his job on that savage team. But Jerry decided to stay with Dak, not because of Dak’s QB abilities, but simply based on the team’s record. The same team that was built for Tony Romo. But we a remember watching Dak throw for 3-5 yards per pass. Completely ignoring the team’s best and most experienced QB, Tony Romo. Romo should’ve been back under center at first opportunity and he would’ve won his second Super Bowl, two years after the refs took the 2014 championship away from him citing an incomplete touchdown pass on 4th down to Dez Bryant against Green Bay. On a side note, Dez Bryant would have a place in Canton Ohio, if it weren’t for dink and dime Dak and his short yard passes. Now Dak has one of the most outrageous contracts the league has ever seen and he will be forced to continue winning 42-40 but without the football IQ Tony Romo was blessed with. And now, you should expect 20 years to field a Romo caliber replacement for Dak. Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells are the only good decisions Jerry has ever made for our beloved cowboys. Every other decision he has made has been to the detriment of us super fans.

Tony Romo is the only quarterback in NFL history to throw seven touchdowns in one game and lose, Denver broncos 52-49. Jerry Jones puts a garbage team around one or two good players every single year.

The spirit and production of the defense has certainly regressed. The biggest sticking point that many saw during the offseason was the lack of RB after losing Pollard. Dowdle and resigning Zeke was the answer to a balanced offense? You can see the results and it was obvious to the average fan it would not work

Its not just the running game the WR are last in the NFL in separation, and the line cannot protect him.

Been a fan for a long time, but that doesn’t make me an expert with the teams that have played in the last 30 years they should have multiple Lombardi trophies I feel the organization keeps doing the same thing expecting different results(insanity) During the Landry era A back up could come in and the team wouldn’t miss a beat Would love to see new coach and new GM just for starts Would love to see the Cowboys run the table that would be awesome

I think it's about time we put more blame on these average quarterbacks who know they don't deserve max contracts but demand $50+ million a year anyway. They knowingly put their teams in a tough financial position and make them unable to build well-rounded rosters. Brady, Mahomes, Manning, and Rodgers all took less money for the sake of winning. Then you have guys like Dak and Trevor Lawrence setting their franchises back 10 years with those ridiculous contracts.

Lose 8 or 9 starters or significant players in the offseason and not replace them with equal or better players has an affect. 29 years and counting and there is one thing that is constant.
