I honestly will never understand why miss ellie stayed married to Jock. As much as i loved him on the show as the patriarch of the family, He was in fact just JR as an older version... First Digger was too drunk to keep miss elite and lost his shares on a bet and then comes Jock who will finesse anyone in his eyesight to get what he wants. If one really thinks about it, Jock and JR were WEAK. They came off as strong bcuz off what they've managed to accomplish thru greed and betrayal including money. That was their "muscle." There was no integrity or dignity behind any of it. In my book, if you have to cheat and hurt others to get what you want, that's weakness at it's finest. I'm guessing there wasn't much to choose from in Braddock County at the time during miss Ellie's "heyday," causing her to Just settle. 🤷🏾

JR was definitely misogynistic. He held what “he” deemed was a strong woman in high regards. “His” definition. Instead of simply holding the people he dealt with in high regards and giving them the respect they deserved. For example, his wife, Sue Ellen, who was in fact smarter than he gave her credit for. She should have been the one he gave the most respect to, aside from his parents. And yet he treated her like the 💩on the bottom of his shoe for much of the series, UNTIL he saw that she was just as business savvy and calculating as he was. But waaaay back in the miniseries she was dropping gems that she knew more than they gave her credit for.
