You're right but even on a past Episode where JR put Sue Ellen in a Sanitarium, she admitted that she "gave" JR to Jock when he was only Five. He never had a chance to do all of the things that most kids take for granted. Also, Jock could never love JR unconditionally. He dangled his "Love" like a piece of Raw Meat in front of a Starving Dog.

She had been hired to handle PR for the company. Strip mining would likely have had very negative repercussions. She was doing her job. Frankly IRL Ewing Oil wouldn't have survived very long. That incident in the later seasons where the government finally comes down on them would have been a frequent occurrence with this family in charge.

I honestly will never understand why miss ellie stayed married to Jock. As much as i loved him on the show as the patriarch of the family, He was in fact just JR as an older version... First Digger was too drunk to keep miss elite and lost his shares on a bet and then comes Jock who will finesse anyone in his eyesight to get what he wants. If one really thinks about it, Jock and JR were WEAK. They came off as strong bcuz off what they've managed to accomplish thru greed and betrayal including money. That was their "muscle." There was no integrity or dignity behind any of it. In my book, if you have to cheat and hurt others to get what you want, that's weakness at it's finest. I'm guessing there wasn't much to choose from in Braddock County at the time during miss Ellie's "heyday," causing her to Just settle. 🤷🏾

JR was definitely misogynistic. He held what “he” deemed was a strong woman in high regards. “His” definition. Instead of simply holding the people he dealt with in high regards and giving them the respect they deserved. For example, his wife, Sue Ellen, who was in fact smarter than he gave her credit for. She should have been the one he gave the most respect to, aside from his parents. And yet he treated her like the 💩on the bottom of his shoe for much of the series, UNTIL he saw that she was just as business savvy and calculating as he was. But waaaay back in the miniseries she was dropping gems that she knew more than they gave her credit for.

Jody no he wasn't. Did we watch the same show? JR did much worse things than Jock and everyone hated him.

JR had to have learned his business practices from someone and since Jock trained him, one can give Jock the blame or credit whichever you see it.

Since Jock trained J.R in the art of business, why is Jock so mad at him for how he conducts himself in the business world? He made J.R into what he is today.

@LBF522 Yeah, you're right about that. That's kind of sad. It's past the fact now but The Family should have encouraged to have Lucy have some part of The Business. Maybe she could have worked there in The Summer as a Clerk or something. JR worked at Ewing Oil from the time he was a Teenage Boy, but don't you notice that JR was tough as nails with everyone else but with Josh he was so scared.

Now hold on a minute. Jock didn't steal those oil wells. It is aweful the way he treated Digger, but I can't picture Jock being as bad as JR. Don't get me wrong, I admire JR. I always wander how he always swept the ladies off their feet.

JOCK DIDN'T treat Digger bad watch Dallas The Early years. Digger was a boozer but Jock tried to help Digger but Digger would rather drink instead. Watch Dallas The Early years.

I love Miss Ellie, especially when she got a shotgun when there was this guy on the ranch and threatened to shoot him. Can't remember who it was or what episode it was though.

It was a reporter who had heard JR and Bobby's plane had gone down. The episode was called "Survival," and it aired during season 2.
