Great install vid Rob!. I too put on the Dalton kit on my 15 outlander 1000 max xt. Love it so far with my 27 inch swamp lites and it no longer feels sluggish down low.

I think Shawn was running Gates and now has gone back to the BRP preformance belt now, that's what I'm running! Glad you enjoyed the video! Hoping to get out soon and start making some more ATV vids this spring...if spring ever shows up! Received 7" of snow yesterday, pretty depressing! LOL! Thanks for watching Darryl!

I would of done a full clutch set up first, but that will work better than what stock was. Hoping this summer to put the full STM set up with a new Maverick belt along with TheBomracing optimizer.

Thanks Marc, appreciate it! There is nothing wrong with the clutch kit, it grabs harder and does what its supposed to do. You can still burn a belt in deep thick mud but I only went thru one belt in the year and a half I had it. If you can't afford a full aftermarket clutch, then the Dalton Kit is the way to go.

Rob, what a recommendation for a kit, my 2019 outlander 850 tires 27 " complete kit or only the primary, or complete with secondary? With the OEM I just force it a little and it smells the clutch belt, some help give me? Thank you

You looking for a Kit or an Aftermarket? Dalton with a secondary spring is the way to go for a kit...I've got the CVTech Primary Aftermarket Clutch with the Dalton Secondary spring in mine and it works well. Some people say go aftermarket secondary but I haven't found the need to yet...maybe if I raced or something like that but I'm happy with what I have and I was happy with the way the Dalton Worked at the time. If you're into heavy mud though, I'd go at least with an Aftermarket Primary Clutch with a beefed up Secondary spring! Good luck Jose!

Secondary bolt is a M8 x 1.25 x 80mm, You should be able to get it at a Hardware or Automotive store. Any other bolt might strip the threads or jamb inside. Good luck and Happy Trails Dylan!

Hey, recently bought a used 2016 outlander 850 XMR. It has what I think the "Can-am clunk". Curious if the clutch kit install took care of this, if you even had it. Thanks.
@RobFarrowATV
@RobFarrowATV 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Adam! Can Am Clunk has to do with the sway bar bushings, replaced them with Garage Products brand and the clunk went away. The clutch shouldn't clunk but does slip big time under load such as being really stuck or in really thick mud, that's where the upgrade comes in! Good Luck Man!

@@RobFarrowATV I used to ride Honda and just bought a 2019 Outlander Max two up. When I put it into gear from a stopping point every single gear clanks the clutch because of the belt has that whirling sound and every time I give it gas it clicks I guess I just have to get used to that lots of people say that's the way Can am is. Lol. It appears that these can ams are higher maintenance then the Honda's. But I sure have a pretty nice looking machine...lol

Where exactly you notice difference with this kit installed? Throttle response? L gear? Thx for video
@RobFarrowATV
@RobFarrowATV 3 жыл бұрын
The kit makes the clutch grab the belt harder and you will notice it on take off and in mud. It will still allow the belt to slip in heavy mud but is way better than stock. The next step up is an aftermarket primary clutch like a CVTech which I now run. The Dalton kit is for those that can't afford a new clutch but still want something better than the stock. I ran the Dalton for a year or so before finally getting a CVTech. Good luck!

Hey was wondering how that clutch kit turned out? Was it worth it and was there a noticable difference? I'm wanting to order one for my 1000
@RobFarrowATV
@RobFarrowATV 5 жыл бұрын
If You can afford the Aftermarket Clutch like a CVTech then buy one, if not and you want a Kit, then the Dalton is the way to go! It was a great upgrade, noticed the difference immediately! You will still burn a belt if you are stuck in really thick mud or skeg but otherwise I never had an issue with it. I couldn't afford an aftermarket, so I bought the Dalton and loved it. Some people on the Web Sites say, save your money and buy an aftermarket, clutch kits are a waste of money, etc. but I'm glad I got the Dalton. I ran it for a year and a half no issues and then got an opportunity to buy a used CVTech. Good luck and Happy Trails Dustin!

@@RobFarrowATV was it a huge performance difference with the dalton kit? And how do u compare it with the cvtech?
@RobFarrowATV
@RobFarrowATV 2 жыл бұрын
@@mishaalsalha6494 The Dalton made it hit hard and pickup and go but still would smoke the belt in really deep thick stuff...although a slightly smoked belt still is good as long a there's no cracks or delaminating. Always check your belt after a few rides, might save you a belt change in the mud. LOL! The CVTech never smoked the belt and had a better range of engagement. I found the CVTech a little better than the Dalton. I haven't tried any other clutches so I can't comment on them.

It lets the engine get higher rpm and more torque before engaging the drive...I think about 500 rpm or something to that effect! That way when the drive kicks in, the engine has a chance to put more power to spin those 30" wheels in the mud! I think it takes a little away from top end speed but that doesn't bother me! Thanks for watching!

I only had it for 1.5 years then bought a CVTech primary. I was happy with the Dalton when I had it but I could still burn a belt in the deep skeg or mud. It was snappy off the line though. The CVTech was much better, never burned a belt again and much smoother. I sold the XMR 850 a few years ago and bought a SXS, sold that and now have a brand new Outlander pro hd7 which I'm really enjoying. I don't do skeg anymore but do pretty much every other kind of terrain...lots of exploring. Thanks Aaron!

No burned belts and great performance from it!
