The snow is piling up and the forecast is getting worse! Here’s how I cope with hoops and covers to save my ranunculus.

I am in Edmonton, Alberta and can relate, though we don’t have snow. The temps went to -2 last night and thankfully I had most things covered. Surprisingly the Yarrow I’ve planted and left uncovered for a few frosty nights already is looking better than everything else. It’s tough! I’m happy to see someone with a bit more experience going through the cool weather ❤. Thanks for sharing your expertise w us.

This is terrible ! My stock needs out and is now budding at 2 inches high. I guess I can't cut it back ? So it's going to bloom under lights ! I'm freaking out . I can't believe you aren't. Is this nuts or what ?! You're amazing can't wait to see your magnificent bouquets this year

Sadly no, you can’t cut it back, it’s a one and some flower. The only reason I’m not worried is because I’ve done this for a couple of years.

Believe it or not, here in Campbell River on Vancouver Island we woke up on Monday to two inches of snow, it was gone by the afternoon, but still, that's at least a month later then a "late" snowfall. We also broke our all time low for the day which actually was still 5.5deg celsius but our norm at this time of year is 13. I think we may have hit 13 once or twice this year. All my seedlings are fine, just not wanting to grow yet. Temps are supposed to be back to normal next week so the seedlings should start growing at record pace.
