I love my floret zinnias. With the long cold stretch all my zinnias are stunted though. They’re all blooming at a very short height. There wasn’t enough heat to allow the plants to get to full height before blooming. 😢

Eucalyptus is actually a perennial shrub, right? In zone 3, can they be put into dormancy late fall and stored in a cool dark basement? I remember my mom used to over winter geranium that way.

No floret zinnias . . . yet. But, w/ no cats at my house, I would love to learn to grow baby's breath. Any hints?

I ❤️ my floret zinnias! Mine just started blooming a couple weeks ago and so far not many doubles coming out of them but I feel that sometimes zinnias take a bit to hit their stride and start producing bigger blooms!

If it’s not a store DEDICATED to gardening I would not buy from them I work at a hardware store and it’s heartbreaking see my managers telling our yard that they should be watering the plants 5 times A DAY in 100° weather, at least they tell them to not get it on the leaves but it doesn’t matter because that’s inevitable because of how they’re displayed. Don’t you want to water the whole plant but you don’t want to do it during peak sun time so it doesn’t burn the leaves right??? I don’t have a green thumb but the people they send in to train us so we have advice to give customers tell us that’s the best way to do it

I am glad you cut them before anything bad could happen. Doesn't stem length need to happen before the flowers mature or am I wrong?

Thank you for a look at your garden! And not just the perfect parts! North Central Minnesota and the same horrible start to the garden year. I was feeling a bit defeated and second guessing my gardening skills but you showing me you have had a few struggles has given me a little bump. Also, I giggle a little when you say *cool* flowers. Because my buried 12 year old brain crashes into my brain like the kool-aid man and says, all flowers are cool!....followed by the adult gardener gingerly stepping into the rubble and saying that you are talking about temperature. Not the level of interest or liability of the said flowers! Thank you, you made a dreary day here a little less dark!
