Glad you finished with a positive day 3 and felt good about it overall. Thanks, Sam, for keeping with the event and appreciating it. Lesson learned. 1. Keep up 2. Prepare ahead of time, and 3. And then stop whining.

Sam. Without a doubt, you are the new standard in automotive content. Full marks! However, your crew (on this trip) let you down in terms of the quality of the B-roll they were tasked to capture for you (and it shows). You're still "The One", but it had to be said. Thank you for the great content.
@tunes4life
@tunes4life 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah saw that too, the crew definitely let Sam down as even the shot at the fuel station was swaying,which it didn't have no reason to, and i suppose no filters were used on those supposedly b rolls either...
@africanotomotiv
@africanotomotiv 2 жыл бұрын
@@tunes4life first, let me say I'm merely speculating here. I know not what happened on this trip. However, my assumption is that: -Apart from the actual camera work not being up to par (personal opinion), the B-roll was probably captured using cameras different from the Panasonic (which Sam uses). -Also, the footage appears to have been captured in some sort of log profile (which requires some measure of colour grade), which (I assume) Sam ain't got time for. Regardless, I appreciate Sam's effort and he can always chalk it up to experience.

@@africanotomotiv That makes sense about Sam not having the time,with his busy then schedule... but my point IS,the crew not making as great of a job as Sam does,to begin with... and hiring a crew,is what's at least expected,don't you think? 🤷‍♂

@@tunes4life I hear you, but consider: Sam is a self-made, self starter. He's melded his passion for cars, love for creating video and developed a product (that is his content). He understands what it is he's creating; focusing time, energy and resources to achieve his objective. On the other hand, individuals (handy with camera gear) being offered the opportunity to be crew on a prestigious event, where high end cars are involved; may not be as invested in the outcome. If that makes sense.

Not that it really matters but gee after the first episode it actually does :p ...so where did you end up place wise then? Highly doubt you made it to the top 25 and even if it doesn t change anything, how could you possibly leave that out. Whilst the first part was certainly more rosy and exciting, it was great that you showed the toll that it takes and the more tedious bits that don t make it a lesser experience but put it into perspective.

So I was just in a rally in the Smoky Mountains with my 997.2 C4S. Following a 992 C4S was almost impossible. It has twin turbos. The point is, modern cars are so much faster and classic cars cannot keep up. 992's were reaching 120mph in residential areas, where kids were playing, and it was all just insane to me. I refused to drive like that. New cars reach 120mph so fast, I don't think drivers even realize what they're doing. Fortunately, there was a "slow" group. I joined the slow group the next day and I was much happier.

Thx for showing us the last part of your MM experience. It is mega and only possible in Italy. However the tribute (started by Ferrari in 2010) has expanded into more tribute's lately. For me was the first tribute (5x Enzo, 2x F50, dozen F40's and 599GTO's, 16M's) the most impressive as many owners waited decades to take part in this Rally, using modern cars (not pre '57). It was really heaven as at the beginning years the tribute drove exactly the same route as the classics. Now days the tribute starts/overnights at different locations and therefore as "tribute driver" you miss out on the classic rally, unless you drop down and fall behind as you experienced... So Sam, next year. Startup the 360 and drive within the classics. I did this as a support car in a 458. The support we had: 1x tube-valve-lid ;-) Down-side of this mega open-air-car-party.... The costs $$$$. It is (for normal people) really expensive to participate. Not only the starting fee, overnight costs and fuel. But transports of your car, insurance and possible damage to your car (as you have) For a privateer (no tax write-off) it is heaven and hell but an once in a lifetime experience (of mostly dutchies, notice the license-plates on the cars....) PS The same "open-air-party" is in Sicily - Targa Florio, last won in '72 by a Dutchie, Gys van Lennep and has also a Ferrari Tribute driving parts of the racetrack. Different as experience but a hell of a party too (not so massive as MM)

Tony turned into a bit of a sour grape on this trip. I remember bringing a friend to fashion week in Italy a few years back and it was the same thing. By the last day, he just sat in the hotel room. I expect Tony took some of the enjoyment out of the trip for Sam which is disappointing. I know what it's like to be a burnt-out grumpy middle-aged man, but it would be nice to see Tony regain some of the spark he had in his early days on KZbin.
