Damaraland Namibia | What’s it like to travel to Namibias wildest most unvisited destination

Our family overland African adventure continues as we head deep into Damaraland in Namibia, Our little boy meets his first elephants, and hangs out with the Himba tribes people. We also take a walk through a forest of 200 million year old trees and do a little shopping on the side of the road.
This might just be our favourite episode yet!
We are the Newbys, John, Tara, and our two little boys Crusoe and Sawyer. We’re a family who are pursuing an alternative lifestyle, and after two years of full time travel we’ve taken root on an abandoned farm in Northern Portugal which we’re renovating into our dream off-grid homestead. @@TheNewbys Thanks Tara - we're doing well and slowly adding to our travel plans and prepping ( ie decluttering!!) I've got some skiing in Switzerland next week which I'm looking forward to. We're still scheduled to start early April with a month or so in the Hebrides, then back to turn around and handover to our house/ dog sitters and then off on 12 May to catch ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam.. Yes, a meet up some where down the road would be terrific. The world is son messy at the moment it’s tough to make plans more than a month out. Crusoe is sooo curios now, we are blessed to have a child that loves this world as much as we do. The elephants were such a highlight and the Himba ladies so kind. Each week you surprise me even more. Crusoe is like a little sponge, soaking up everything. He always has such a look of wonder. John is seeing everything in a new light, as a dad not a backpacker. I look how hot and desolate it is there and am amazed that creatures, both 2 and 4 legged have carved out a living. Thank you for sharing your family adventures... the weather in the US a hot mess... flooding in the northwest and freezing rain/snow in the northeast. Wow what a video. I loved it, seeing Crusoe’s face when he saw the elephants was a joy. Great to seeing you chatting to the locals. I think that’s a lovely idea Tara getting trinkets for the Christmas tree from every place you visit, loved the elephant and doll trinket. Great driving John 👍

Also we drove through Caprivi District all the way to Victoria Falls. I have fond memories of my stay in Namibia. Looking forward to more of your Namibia vlogs. Just wanted to inform you that I was working in Namibia during UN Peacekeeping to make Namibia independent in 1990.

Wow! I am so nostalgic as I have lived in Namibia and have been to all parts of Namibia including Damaraland. I love your Namibia Series. I would have bought more souvenirs to give away to help those people in the middle of nowhere. Your baby is the sweetest toddler & so mature as though he understands how to behave in a rugged country. Hats off to you both. Crusoe will be an adventurer when he grows up.
