One of our finest actresses and a genuinely lovely lady. She's had a fabulous career and did so many great things over the years. I think she sits as one of the jewels in Britain's dramatic crown 👑. Keep up the excellent work Dame Helen ❤ 😊
@sleepypoodle13 жыл бұрын
She seems like such a likeable, extraordinarily gracious, dignified and unpretentious woman who has clearly forgiven Parkinson's oafish treatment of her back in 1975. I love her dress too, it's absolutely beautiful.

She's still gorgeous here! She's brilliant in The Long Good Friday, with the late-great Bob Hoskins, which I have in a fabulous blueray boxset, that also includes Mona Lisa. Wonderful actress !! ❤️

She projected herself in this instance as an intellectual and thoughtful actress. Parkinson’s line of questioning was far more sensible, as opposed to his previous crass and inane line of questioning in the early 70’s. In this interview he gave her an opportunity to expand her views on a number of topics.

At a school in Woodford Green, London, where she was in the cast of a 20 minute playlet that made it to the top three of a schools' drama competition. There was no public entry to the comp... I was there with my friends to support another group, but all the same I was mightily impressed by Helen Mirren.. ..apart from being very pretty, and "flouncing" brilliantly.. ..she played "Julie", a good girl who came to a sticky end by getting in with the wrong crowd. Hmm.. Would she remember..?

@NORMANGODS Yeah, Santa Clarita counts as a smaller town.L.A. has plenty of tucked-away smaller communities that are nice. San Diego has almost none. In big metropolitan areas, I've found it much less friendly than the UK (in general!). Maybe they treated you better because of your accent? Lots of people have a thing for the Brit accent over here.

Parky seems respectful and pally here; by now they presumably knew each other well enough; the original interview was outrageous but of its time and in tune with the 70s way of behaviour and thinking whether you liked that or not. If you weren't there - don't judge.

Parkinson obviously thought he was going to have the upper hand in the 70’s interview; after all as far as he was concerned he was interviewing a vacant actress who probably got by on her body. It was interesting in this later interview the reaction of the woman sitting next to her, a comedian I think. When Helen made a comment about her role in Prime Suspect being all about her, the woman next to her seemed really pissed off, maybe jealousy rearing its ugly head.

The only trouble with Mirren's protests about Parkinson talking about her breasts and looks instead of her acting, is that in the 1960s and 70s she openly cashed in on her looks in numerous topless/sexy photo shoots. Of course, it's her choice and there is nothing wrong with that but she's not really in a strong position to critcise anyone for pointing it out.
