Hey Damian, We know the Yungblud family well, for a fact he doesn’t control he’s own social media, he posts occasionally on it but mainly done by the label, also fact Interscope has spent $3M + on him and the promotion of socials, so I personally think it’s the worst example of someone to look up to, specially when the average musician does have that kind of money or team to make your social media that big. It’s again a false economy that one Yungblud will be in debt and paying back for the rest of his life.

If you just focus on that - i think you missed the point of what Damien was saying. Entirely. You also skipped over what he was doing BEFORE get got signed.
@thisisjarmon3 жыл бұрын
@@ziggyNY123 agreed. You guys missed the whole point. Regardless of who is backing him or what’s backing him. It’s the idea of constantly giving value. Going above and beyond to give and give and give instead of being an entitled prick, only thinking about how your music is good and people need to listen to you. No one cares yo. As an independent artist you’re officially an entrepreneur/business and in every business the top priority is the customer’s. You must think of the audience you’re trying to talk to and be a leader for those people and give them content that is from the heart that will make them love you. You don’t have to stress yourself out trying to be a people pleaser or what we’d like to call a sell out. You don’t have to sacrifice your creativity. In fact it’s the opposite; you’re using your unique abilities to talk to your audience at a rate and in a way they can not ignore you. Obviously if you’re starting out it takes time. But once you figure out your audience and the way they behave and how to constantly give them value and see what they value most in your pool of content. You stick with that and build from there.
@OkandiMusic4 жыл бұрын
This is great! The only thing I'd add is that it's easy for Yungblud (and established artist with label backing) to express himself and on socials and maintain engagement without feeling weird or forced. He's living it! For many others it might not be so easy especially when the return doesn't seem as productive as they'd hope. From a personal experience you have to create your own world and hone your craft to the point that they can't ignore you. Move with confidence and self-assurance in everything you do and you literally can't go wrong 🖤📡
@KellyDante4 жыл бұрын
The return may not be high initially but it’s the consistency that will get you to success. I’ve seen this with my own music & support base. Also fun fact: Yungblud was a Disney actor too so that’s how he first got known before growing further with his artistry & fanbase
@wormsali3 жыл бұрын
@@KellyDante I definitely agree cuz the same had happened to me. And engaging fans doesn't have to be any more forced than mingling at a social event. I enjoy small talking with fans and potential fans, plus I've made many great network connects doing it
@hillsmediahouse2 жыл бұрын
The content team and social media management team around him have made his content look like he is posting it. Yes he has a big part in the actual capturing of it, but beyond that he would upload to a cloud or even have his phone open access and his team does the rest. Part of PR for an artist is having the artist inject their tone of voice for sure and he does this through writing a couple captions here and there. As for the live stuff, 100% he loves the connection with fans and does it to give back for sure, same goes for his 'show' this more than likely was his idea but then the team around would have given major input for sure. Besides all the above, this was a great video that did explain some great points that people should be implementing. great job

This is a delayed comment, I just finished the tutorial on "how to promote your single in 2020" and after taking notes and passing it to a power point I have to say that it has been amazing and it has inspired me a lot, I give you the thanks for that. We are about to release our first single as a band and really now I have the feeling of starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe that light is our first small success or maybe it is death, I don't know ... but we are going to jump headlong with our music as a sword and the power point as a shield. Hey Damian, the point about the use of KZbin is quite interesting. I have the impression that if an artst uses his/her YT channel both for music and other type of content (like for example tutorials), it would be a mistake. Followers coming for music would be annoyed by the tutorials, people interested in tutorial would no subscribe because of the music (for example probably they are interested in how the artist mixes the songs, but they are in a different kind of music). In my head, it's like the shop selling men suites starts to sell also wemen pursues. Do you think this is correct and there should be two different YT channels, or is it ok to mix both types of content? Thanks!

Definitely the content coming from A.C.E on their KZbin and Vlive. Their company even made crack videos of them instead of protecting their image like any company raising Kpop idol groups. Though they didn't ad buy for the content. It was enough to retain the attention of their current fan base and for those who stumbled upon them via algorithm, they ended up falling for them. They made unique videos: arts&crafts videos, cooking videos, ASMR content, gave fans sincere advice, and some other content we usually expect from kpop groups. They've been self producing odd content in the past but went extra during 2020. I wish their team get more skilled at growth hacking though.

LOCKDOWN QUESTION Hi Damian In the first week of the lockdown I got a message from a work colleague asking if I would record some bass for a song he was writing about the lockdown (a sanity project) of course I agreed and now after just 5 weeks the band (Wired Design) have written, produced and released a 6 track EP. Now we done as many FB and Instagram posts as we thought our friends would tolerate and have gained some interest and even managed to get over a 1000 views (on FB) of the first video we released (My work colleague and now band mate has been producing and I have been making videos on my phone) We haven’t bothered with KZbin yet, don’t want to spread our efforts to thin. Anyway my question is this, How does a band that didn’t exist before the lockdown come out of the lockdown? We are a completely new band, born from the lockdown, we can’t do any gigs so are limited to online promotion, although I think our music does have longevity the subject matter is relevant now. We have used guest vocalist from other local bands which has helped with local promotion but how do we get this beyond the limited amount of “friends” we have who are actually into the genre (some family and friend are supportive and Like/Share the videos and links but realistically they are not going to come to the gigs) Also, we are half way though producing the follow up ep (working title “High Risk”) Give us some clues Damian open.spotify.com/album/10QqdW0MhG2M838eSJ9v2a?si=B69OhssrS6KQmDDOhUYU5w facebook.com/Wireddesignband instagram.com/wired__design/

I love Yungblud. And I worry about him. You see a very charismatic individual but the look is going more and more extreme and not as punk as it used to be. He’s starting to look tired. I always wonder where he gets his very expensive clothes from these days, how much more makeup he can pile on. His lifestyle has changed. Where is he going? He isn’t what he was at nineteen. His energy and compulsive creativity isn’t translatable to anyone else. His voice is absolutely unique. He’s a real musician and more of a chameleon than you imagine. I bet he’ll direct a good movie. And he’s beautiful to look at. This is not something you can imitate. You can’t make yourself charismatic. But the second in every musician’s life when they sign and don’t have the time to do their own social media or start to take advice from their label I can sense a change. Maybe it’s inevitable. But part of your advice might be that this isn’t likely to be a long term approach. Especially for a man who puts out so much of himself, how can going mainstream do anything but burn him out and corrupt his purely fresh image/being? With Yungblud fans expect to see what’s really going on. But you can’t any longer.

Info Center hello. It’s an old school traditional way of doing things that will change over time. Big artists who are being pushed by major labels are doing socials badly because nobody has taught them and they don’t need to but as time goes by they will get more savvy as it will help them sell more.. examples like Yungblud will end up being the normal and not the exception. We are just at an early stage of social media in music and the labels and artists haven’t caught up yet
