as a music photographer (both live shots and studio band promo stuff), I fully agree with the importance of having a great "stop-you-dead-in-your-tracks" band photo that generates curiosity and interest - *but* I think the cut-rate $100 fee for a professional grade shoot just isn't possible. You might be able to get shots from an amateur or at best semi-amateur... but Pro Level Hero Shots for only $100? Good luck with that. Thanks for the amazing content and tips - love that you don't BS and tell it like it really is. Cheers!

This was my first thought too. The quality of photo/video shoot you’ll get for $100 is about as good as hiring your friend with an iPhone...
@atlassilverbraid2 жыл бұрын
You don't need a professional photographer as in someone who takes photos for a living. It is more about the photographers attitude to photography ie they are professional. There are some great hobbyists who take high quality shots with dslrs. I do photography as a hobby and I love my dslr and i have invested in equipment and lenses. My main work in design requires a lot of photography so I leant how to take good photos.
@closetobreakdown2 жыл бұрын
I agree.. you can’t get anything for 100$ in the industry.. he’s telling us what all the big guys know, but doesn’t include how much it costs.. a photoshoot is 700$ minimum, music video 5000$ for a good one, 2500$ for a okay video you can share.. this guys crazy thinking you can spend 100$ on your brand and kill it.. you need thousands..
@misterscary9992 жыл бұрын
@@closetobreakdown bottom line - $100 would get you an amateur photographer who'd give you shots that look like they were taken by an amateur. Very unrealistic & rather poor advice on Damian's part. Maybe he's not the know-it-all guru of band management (as he makes himself out to be)?

So basically last Friday, the 13th, I've released my first ever music video and luckily I haven't spent that much 'cause one of my best friend is a photographer and video-maker. I've used the pictures of that shooting for social media - setting up the party!!:))) - and tomorrow I'll use the 100 bucks for launching the facebook ads campaigns. Hopefully is gonna help, 'cause unfortunately submithub was not that generous. People there are very critical!

Great info. BUT, it is not really only spending $100. You can spend $100 on this OR that. But, based off of your list, everything mentioned here is def needed. So IF you ONLY have $100 and do not have a video, photo shoot, good lighting for interview ect. Chances are you are going to spend way more than $100. If you are a new artist and have nothing done yet off the check list and only have $100, you maybe able to do two or maybe three things off the list. But, no way you can get all of that done off of $100

The weddingphotographer before this choice missed connection to music and the scene. But you can try...

I've been tuning in for a about a year now and followed quite a lot of your advice where it catered to me, I'm a DJ/Music producer (typical I know) with a small local fan base, just so ya know. I found my sound and have made a good few tracks out on SoundCloud and now fired a track out on Ditto. When it comes to pictures, I don't want my face out and about, I'm not in this for the fame and fortune, I just love making music. I'm fortune enough to have a full time job during all this shite so I'm not worried about the money flow. I'm not gonna ask "how can I get on the Spotify top 10 playlist or SoundCloud new rising musician" I will however ask, what would your next steps be in the same position? Anyways! Your welcome for watching. Like, subscribe and more importantly, come be part of the community. ;P
@DamianKeyes4 жыл бұрын
The next step is just keep enjoying your music, keep loving what you’re doing. You have a fanbase that you like creating for, and if you want to push it further and expand, there are options there to do that. Not all artists put their faces out there, but it’s definitely harder not to as it’s harder for people to make a connection. So you can always look to grow, but the key if you just love making music is just continue to love making music 😊
