I get it that they wanted to go out and figured going to the movies was a family thing. There were other horror movies they took us to as well which gave me nightmares, but Omen 2 really stood out because my parents said the Antichrist was something that come to pass because it was written in the Bible. I had nightmares for days. I don't believe that now, but as an impressionable 10-year-old, it scarred me a little.

@@alexo.4324 I was 10 when I saw this in theaters too. In fact it was my first R rated horror film in the theaters.I hadn't seen Omen 1 yet but I did read the book as well as Omen 2 . I remember waiting in a huge line in fact the previous showtime was sold out. All everyone kept talking about was that they wanted to see the cool death scenes and it wouldn't top the original and that it better not suck like Exorcist 2 did. Sequels were not as commonplace back then. Suffice to say it gave me nightmares for a bit. But the audience applauded when the Dr got cut in half. And I remember hearing a huge gasp when Lee Grant killed William Holden and revealed herself as a satanist.!!

Jonathan Scott-Taylor was by far my favorite of all the actors who portrayed Damien. He is The Beast, yet he's still got teenage angst and can feel human feelings such as friendship, love, sadness and happiness. The killing of his cousin, his one true friend affected him greatly, yet probably made him more dangerous. The actor's intimidating screen presence was what made this film stand out.

This is when Damien's last shred of humanity disappears. He doesn't want to kill Mark, after the bond they have shared. And he cries and wails after killing him. After this, he never cares about anyone again. Before he finds out who he is, he tries to save Bill Atherton. So he is not devoid of feelings to begin with.

Mark is a total animal for standing up to Damien like that, with no special powers or preparation or anything other than his moral conviction. Its made all the more powerful by the way they understated it and didn't endow him with Hollywood-style courage; he's shaking, he's scared, he knows he's about to die if he says no, but he still refuses to accept Damien's offer.

You can clearly see the pain in his eyes when Mark refuses becuase Damian knows if mark doesn’t join he will be forced to kill him. You can hear the desperation in “don’t make me beg you, Mark.” Damian genuinely cared for this kid and did not want to hurt him.

Interesting tidbits: *You can hear a few notes from Jerry Goldsmith's Logan's Run (1976) score when Richard and Anne are walking. *It seems they shot these scenes at different times of the day. The sky is mostly totally cloudy, but then the sun suddenly comes out. The final portion seems to have been shot toward sunset, judging from the sun's position in the sky.

One of the frequently unsung heroes of this movie is the Wisconsin (WI) filming locations. I'd love to know where exactly this segment was shot in the Eagle River area. You can find the Thorns' house address online, but not where these woods scenes were shot. (All winter scenes were shot in the Eagle River area, while all fall scenes were shot in the Lake Geneva and Chicago areas.) I fell in love with WI upon first viewing this movie, then first got to visit the state 22 years later, and have visited the state off-and-on since then. I have visited Lake Geneva (the area where the military academy scenes were shot, although that property is no longer open to the public), but not Eagle River as of yet.

Such amazing acting for them especially at a young age. I often come back to this scene because of the acting. And now after watching the newest Omen movie, I went back to watch the older ones. I often feel sad for this scene because his mother was a victim in all of this just as Mark is and anyone else who got close to Damian. Mark was his cousin however he saw him like a brother until he learned the truth. Damien saw Mark as a brother and wanted him to come with him. Not for power, glory of being the son of the devil. Just because he loved Mark. But Mark couldn’t and he died because of it.
