Blogothèque

It was in Oct. 2016, in Berlin, during Michelberger Music.
Between each show of the festival, we were kidnapping a person in the audience, which we were taking to a secret room where an artist was waiting.
Between the two of them, a unique experience : a One To One concert.

I love this song too much, when I first heard it my tears wanted to shoot out of my eyes. I don't have friends who like the same music as me, it is good to know that there are still many people who have the ability to empathize with this song, I think this song is one of Damien's masterpieces and I am happy to have listened to it . Music is such a beautiful world. 🖤🎵

As someone who is into rap, RnB, and the newer melodic rap, Brooklyn drill, and other genres, over and over again I find myself just listening to this song to zone out and get away from life and for 10 minutes live through the music and its perfect layering of all the different parts, it's truly beautiful

I have never experienced anything more emotional than this. It's as if I was there and could sense every vibration and every breath. I cry every single time I watch this, especially at the end when silence hits and the last echo fades. Whoever came up with this incredible idea is a genius. What a gift, my god. I would have cried my heart out in that chair. There are no words for me to express how much I appreciate Damien Rice and his talent. And this collaboration with Cantus Domus was just perfection. Thank you @La Blogothèque for allowing us viewers to be part of this almost otherworldly experience.

I imagine you will not see this, but I SO agree with your comment, and wanted to note for you that it was Damien himself who created this whole series concept! So this here is him being one of many artists carrying out the vision that was his. Hope you are well!

@@gracesegars4333 I have just seen your comment and wanted to thank you for letting me know who the genius was behind this incredible concept, and Damien Rice being that genius fits in the picture perfectly. You are very kind for sending this message, thank you! I am well, certainly much more so than a lot people directly affected by war and destruction but absolutely sad and pessimistic about the world and where our civilisation is heading in general. These are sad times and art and music like Damien Rice's are my only solace under these depressing circumstances. But I am getting by. And I do hope you are well too!

I have followed Damien for many years. I remember thinking during his hiatus if we could just get he and Lisa back in the same room to perform for all our leaders, world peace would be the only logical outcome from such magnificence. After seeing this, it is his brilliance and humility that make world peace attainable, nothing against Lisa. His ability to sing to the soul accompanied by these angelic voices is something to behold, it demands a visceral response. I love when artists re-emerge with more depth and clarity.

I love the way they all react - girl with long hair smiling, an unconscious reaction when you're thrown in such beauty, but you can see how it hits her, girl with short hair just constantly in awe, and the guy trying to stay composed, but feeling it deep down. Amazing. If any of you see this I would love to know how you felt being there :D

Here on my monthly check-in. Mind still blown. I remember the first time I heard/saw the Volcano video on VH1. After hearing the first few notes, I stopped whatever it was I was doing in the kitchen. I hurried to the tv. I was hypnotised. I bought the O album that week. This, coming from a primarily hip-hop, r&b, Metal listener. This opened so mamy doors.

I've met the girl with the short hair yesterday at the house concert recorded by the blogotheque . When he started singing it takes a lot to know a man , she started to sob and had to step back . After the show I've asked her if she was ok, she told me that the day of the house gig, blogotheque just uploaded the video from Berlin and it brought too much emotions . I'm so happy for her in a way. Whoever you are , girl, I have a picture of you staring at Damien during yesterday's event

Amazing and must be listened to on headphones. Thanks to all for this and also to sound engineer for fantastic recording. I bet the "kidnapped" after the performance left the room and found a quiet space and just literally broke down and cried - it would have been me. Holding it together while cameras were on but after - would have had a breakdown. Hard to take so much perfection. Once in lifetime experience, I'm sure.

Lyrics It takes a lot to know a man It takes a lot to understand The warrior, the sage The little boy enraged It takes a lot to know a woman A lot to understand what's humming The honeybee, the sting The little girl with wings It takes a lot to give, to ask for help To be yourself, to know and love what you live with It takes a lot to breathe, to touch, to feel The slow reveal of what another body needs It takes a lot to know a man A lot to know, to understand The father and the son The hunter and the gun It takes a lot know a woman A lot to comprehend what's coming The mother and the child The muse and the beguiled It takes a lot to give, to ask for help To be yourself, to know and love what you live with It takes a lot to breathe, to touch, to feel The slow reveal of what another body needs It takes a lot to give, to ask for help To be yourself, to know and love what you live with It takes a lot to breathe, to touch, to feel The slow reveal of what another body needs It takes a lot to live, to ask for help To be yourself, to know and love what you live with It takes a lot to breathe, to touch, to feel The slow reveal of what another body needs What are you so afraid to lose? What is it you're thinking that will happen if you do? What are you so afraid to lose? (You wrote me to tell me you're nervous and you're sorry) What is it you're thinking that will happen if you do? (Crying like a baby saying "this thing is killing me") What is it you're so afraid to lose? I love the reactions you managed to capture. The long haired girl who seemed simply amazed and in awe, the short haired girl who seemed to break out in tears almost immediately and looked like she was holding it back the whole time, the stoic man who looked like he was likewise barely keeping his stoic face who looked totally stunned by the end. I can only imagine how astonishing it would have felt not just emotionally but physically to be surrounded by all those voices in the nice reverb of that room. Hard to understand, isn't it? But the longer one lives, the more curious life (and people) appear to be.

Shivers just kept running throughout the body. I can't tell if it was the music, the eyes, the harmonies or simply the tears. Or, the way I felt through the day, somehow this video connected to that. Regardless, it's beautiful, just like all other Damien Rice creations.

I just see myself sitting in that seat, and Jesus singing to me, looking similarly to Damien, same clothes and hair, maybe with a longer beard. And I just see angels around me, singing to me. They look the same as the people in the video, so diverse and unique yet so unified. In the same room. Their song: “He has given everything to you. This is his love.” And then Jesus kneels like Damian did, his hands exposed with two holes through them. Under my chair is a wash basin, and he begins to wash my feet while still belting out his song over me. And this happens for the rest of eternity, while simultaneously I am worshipping him with everything that I am with passion that never runs dry.
