This is the most emotionally raw performance I've seen in my life. It literally makes me feel anxious and my heart beat because of such emotional pain.
@justineashby82396 жыл бұрын
This slower version is beautiful but the original has seen me through some very cathartic moments after a violent ex-husband. Got home from hospital one day (pregnant) and played it all day. This is so much more mellow and I love it. I heard a busker singing this outside the Arndale in Manchester and it felt like a sign. Thank you Damien...

The 'Live from the basement' videos are incredible. Probably some of Damien's best performances ever. This in essence is what music is about - broken down to its most raw & simplest form. What really comes through in these performances is the meaning of the lyrics and the emotion behind the delivery. Music is a connective medium. Damien really connects with the listener in all his songs. You feel his pain, you feel his joy. Each song is a well crafted episode(s) of his life. Inspiring.

I was first sent this song by my best friend in 2011. He has since passed away and this song strikes with great nostalgia and feeling for me. Music takes you back in time.

One of the most magical experiences that I have been a part of in my life was his concert. Just him, with a guitar, on a dark scene. Nothing else. I have to see him live again to relive the state that he put me in.

I would probably disagree, the album version is more soft, and then BOOM the chorus comes which literally shocked some people, this version is definitely for a different mood though. So overall I like the Album version more but this version is for a different version of the same mood

There are just some songs that seriously feel like they were written for you. The way Damien's intense emotions come through all his songs is so beautiful because you know he's putting himself in that 'moment" It's like he's reliving the pain as if it just happened. I cry every time I hear this song because I have been with someone I loved so much but wished i could hate just so we can move on. It's massively painful. this song is the anthem for relationships that just wont end when they should!

My favorite line is "What I want from this is to learn to let go" because it is very hard for me to let go. Thanks for this song Mr. Rice.

Lyrics What I want from you is empty your head Well they say be true, don't stain your bed Well we do what we need to be free And it leans on me just like a rootless tree What I want from us is empty our minds Well we fake a fuss and fracture the times We go blind when we've needed to see And this leans on me just like a rootless So fuck you, fuck you, fuck you And all we've been through I said leave it, leave it, leave it It's nothing to you And if you hate me, hate me, hate me Then hate me so good that you can let me out, let me out, let me out Of this hell when you're around Let me out, let me out, let me out Hell when you're around Let me out, let me out, let me out What I want from this is learn to let go No not of you, of all that's been told But killers reinvent and believe And this leans on me just like a rootless So fuck you, fuck you, fuck you And all we've been through I said leave it, leave it, leave it It's nothing to you And if you hate me, hate me, hate me Then hate me so good that you can let me out, let me out, let me out Of this hell when you're around Let me out, let me out, let me out Of this hell when you're around Let me out, let me out, let me out Hell when you're around Let me out, let me out, let me out Hell when you're around Let me out, let me out, let me out, let me out And fuck you, fuck you, I love you And all we've been through I said leave it, leave it, leave it It's nothing to you And if you hate me, hate me, hate me Then hate me so good that you can let me out, let me out, let me out Of this hell when you're around Let me out, let me out, let me out, let me out Let me out Hell when you're around Let me out, let me out, let me out Hell when you're around Let me out, let me out, let me out It's hell when you're around Let me out, let me out, just let me out Hell when you're around
