I have a 4th way to carry that was developed out of necessity using a larger board and taking long walks of shame from down the beach back to the launch point. With the board resting on its tip and on the front foil across the wind line, exactly as seen in the beginning of this video, approach the board from leeward with the wing luffing in your downwind hand. Lift the board with your upwind hand held at the base of the mast and rest the mast on your shoulder so that the bulk of the board is over your back and the foil is in front of you. Foil is down with the mast angling forward toward the ground, top of the board is up with most of the board behind. If you ride with an impact vest this is particularly comfortable. I can walk a really long way with heavy equipment in this manner but it works fine with smaller, lighter boards too. When I get to the water, I raise the wing high, turn away from the wind like a jibe and put the board down with the nose pointing at the water. I then rotate toward the wind and end up with the wing again on leeward, the board on windward and can grab the board with the foil pointing into the wind and enter the water like one of your carry methods. This is also a fairly easy way to come out of the water.

🤣🤣🤣 Damo’s method wins it! Although I felt like I was gonna have a heart attack with the first method demonstrated as it’s how I’ve put a foil through wing canvas. I stick to the methods Gwen demo’d to keep foil and wing as far apart as possible. Appreciate the video guys!!! 🙌🔥

But you guys are not leashed to the board?? This is something that I am pondering over, been winging for 2yrs and always wondered why I am leashed to the board, when I used to windsurf, not leashed to anything, I know that a lot of people have come from kiting and maybe the influence of being leashed is brought from there. What do you guys think, Leash or no leash?

We ride with footstraps most of the time, so one, we don't lose the board often even when we fall, and two, a leash can be dangerous if you do a backflip and lose the board in the process, at that point you want the board to get away from you, not back at you.
