Now I am not the biggest Tanjiro fan but you smoking crack? Generic? Idk man, aside from him being empathetic I wouldn't call him generic, though he is far from my favorite character. He and my favorite character (Inosuke) have a trait in common, they don't succumb to pessimistic drivel, like say Giyu and his survivors guilt. Even if understandable, for people like me nothing worse than people who are always down and shit. So for Tanjiro my favorite quality of his is easily how he keeps it pushing, even when he is feeling down, he beats that shit into submission through action instead of wallowing in self pity.
