Randy, as much as it will pain you, the live scope guys will love this as they will be able to go from buoy to buoy to see which buoys are holding fish and how deep they are. It is a great tip for all of us non live scopers as well so thanks!

People like to put brush piles by them as well, easy for them to know the location of their piles.
@brianpierson77082 жыл бұрын
👍👍👍 yes sr the best fisherman on the lake or River most of the time that do with is the old crappie fisherman would build some amazing stuff I would not ever say brush piles because it would be disrespectful to call with some of them have dun it’s a underwater forest / jungle or as many other old timers would say they going to the Christmas tree farm and they produce some “BIG SLOPPY HOGS”!! And if you find them stay camped on the spot because will they turn on it can be a major day and very good to be alive thanks for sharing the comment because I was going to say that same thing thanks again and god bless

Great tip Randy! Never thought of that. I’m sure the bait feed off the algae growing up the cables that also draws the bass. 🤔

Many buoys mark underwater obstructions or channel edges, so structure. Doesn't just apply to bass either 🙂

I started fishing tournaments again 7 years ago. About the 3rd tournament I fished I was easing along the channel in the lake I was fishing and noticed a channel bouy with millfoil in 12 feet of water. I caught 4 Largemouth bass with the largest going almost 5lbs and the smallest a little better than 2. I started running bouys looking for similar conditions. I found 3 that were almost identical. At the end of the day I had 19 pounds and had culled several fish. My partner finished with almost 15 pounds and placed 4th. After that I’ve always checked out bouys that looked promising. I don’t always find fish on them but when I do chances are they are pretty good fish.

I first got on to the buoy bite about 15 years ago fishing topwater early. They spread out a bit, but still relate to buoys. Now I fish them with many baits.

93 Bassmaster BP Megabucks Lake Murray SC. Randy pulls up in hole #5, drops a bait on a buoy marked "fish attractor", catches a lunker off camera. Proceeds to tell the TNN broadcast crew ON CAMERA, that "you've got to trust your intuitive instincts". A channel idea was born that day!

I was on chickamauga beginning of june. Theres a section south of lake where theres a strip of buoys and channel markers. A flat on one side and channel drop on other side. There were people fishing the ledge that buoys marked, So I didnt wanna fish on top of them, nor had I ever fished ledges before. Out of pure randomness and curiosity I just chucked a powershot with a keitech at the buoy closest, and caught a solid spot. There were 2 buoys I moved back n forth to and caught probably 10-12 fish in the last hour of my practice. I didnt use it during tourney, I went for bigger ones, but it was there in a pinch if I needed.
