If you want to input your credit card details, go straight to the app or website by typing in the URL link. Do not click on links if you're not sure or the sender email address looks suspicious. Normally you'll not need to enter card balance. Another way to test a scam site is to enter a fake credit card number and see if it works. But you'll have to remember to use this trick. Easiest and safest is always to type in the URL link yourself, or use the app directly.

Some product on Carousell doesn’t carry Carousell protection tag Please explain what that means and what risk do I as the buyer has to incur paying through Carousell

No Carousell protection tag means the seller does not offer payment via carousell (e.g. you pay carousell, carousell pays seller). There's no insurance for online payment if you receive faulty product, fake or no product. Best to check seller rating, and rating history first before buying.

Usually buyers ask me for email and I do send them then I receive a message on my email from the Carousell app that I have an order and I should put my card info to receive the money so what should I do??? How customers will be able to buy

Yeah in after I tried to fill the card info it didn't accept it , it says that the card should have min 500 rm in it which is sus , but I fill my card anyways and it still didn't work out

There is no need to exchange email address. I do not recommend clicking the link from the email. If there is an order, just open Carousell app directly and do everything within Carousell app. For buyers, they have to input their payment details, credit card info, into Carousell app. Once paid, Carousell will notify you. And you open Carousell app to check.

The ONLY thing to know about Carousell transaction is, you open Carousell app directly, and look to pay there. There is no need to click on links in emails/chats and "be re-directed to Carousell" or "be re-directed to payment" Just use the Carousell app.

The email is not needed unless the person is paying by PayPal which transfers money with email. Just go with the safer transaction methods, e.g. PayNow, PayLah, meetup.

Thank you for the video. I just list an item today and immediately there is a buyer message me to buy it using carousell protect. This buyer requests me to send my email via screenshot. His/her profile is very weird and just joined today. Truthfully speaking who would buy an item on the same day joining the carousell 😅 this behaviour is very obvious that something fishy going on. The "buyer" even send me a screenshot of with spelling error ... very suspicious. I am thankful to this video so that we are alert and not becoming a victim of scammers

CarousellPay does not require exchange of contact info. No phone, no address, no email needed. All the buyer need to do is pay. Seller does not have to do anything. Just wait for Carousell direct notification to tell you payment was made.

bruh my mom fell for it. they target new users and my mom who doesn't know how to use technology clicked on link and authorised them to the dbs. the scammer easily transferred 5k sgd. I couldn't help her and I wish I did. the process was done on mobile and I knew it was sketch because no one asks for carousel protection. too bad there is nothing we can do but to report to police. i don't think money will be returned though.

You can’t. Best to take photo of what you mail out. And screenshot the delivery tracking info. If buyer don’t want to acknowledge receipt, you can contact Carousell and get your money from them instead of from the buyer.

So if we are selling an item and buyer requested for it to be mailed, it has to be registered mail? Otherwise, there would be no tracking available, and I'm worried that the buyer can claim non receipt, when item was already delivered or lost in transit.

@@YT.d_w Ask the seller whether he/she wants registered or non-registered mail. Then see who will cover the extra cost of registered. Then take a photo of your package before mailing out.

If you request payment to your PayPal, then email is needed. Otherwise, most payment do not involve email. High chance it's a scam. You're the seller so you just tell the buyer your preferred payment mode: cash, meet-up, PayNow, PayLah.

@@teohontech7141 he told me because i have buy enabled so he going to use Carousel partner to do payment. he was telling me alot of bullshit like his using a very old carousel website app to order my items. After i expose him he tries his best to tell me try again for the payment . I have already reported the issue to Carousel support and they have Suspended his account. Thank you for your video it really helps alot of new people like us that doesnt know about this carousel scam.
