What would be your number 10 accessory for this list? 🤔 P.S I'm going to "try" and live stream the Geminids meteor shower tonight, if the clouds let me. So feel free to pop in just after midnight tonight (UTC) and I'll hopefully be showcasing some 'Shooting stars'! 🤞✨

When I was a kid, I always loved laying on the grass and looking at the Orion's Belt 3 stars and I always wondered why they are the way they are. I don't know when I forgot how much I loved to know more about astronomy, but now as an adult in my early 30s, my passion for it has been relit and out of all the KZbinrs, I find Damon's energy and the way he articulates himself the most exciting. I feel less overwhelmed and actually understand the way he explains things as English is not my mother's tongue, so I really appreciate you Damon 💙

Visual zoom is tricky, and won't look like what's shown in this video. We love you man! I know to make this a practical representation in a KZbin video is extremely difficult. But as you magnify, the view gets more fuzzy and dimed, won't show like the colorful nebula here, and to show this accurately to viewers is so hard, so I appreciate the attempt! Camera view is so different then eyes, I think it's good to explain this so new comers don't expect more when buying a zoom eyepiece and get disappointed. You make some of the best astronomy videos on KZbin , keep it up! We love your videos!
@DamonScotting Жыл бұрын
Yeah you're right, I really struggled trying to replicate it. The view of the Orion nebula is actually a sequence of 1/3s exposures so you are certainly right in saying it's not the most accurate representation. I'll try and amend this next time. Thank you! 😊

I bought a televue oxygen iii filter, pretty expensive but very worth it, in my 12” dobsonian both the Eastern and Western veil nebulas go from invisible to pretty much obvious obvious with the filter. Same goes for other faint nebula like the owl nebula, and reveals a lot more in the Orion Nebula, and that’s from my bortle 6

Slight criticism in the zoom eyepieces bit when you showed Orion. Orion, while pretty, will never look like that to the human eye. Have to try not to give newbies a false expectation.

I honestly this it's extremely stupid how much a simple tracker with 0 smart features to costs It gets even worse when you can get everything for astro with a smart telescopes for just 100$ more. I know it's not the same as manual setup and the learning curve, but if a smart scope comes out with an aperture similar to an entry refractor, it's sounds like worthy investment
