This show just tries too hard to be funny, like most these days. Overacting. Terrible writing. Just what I imagined when I heard about this show. I had a glimmer of hope at the premise but, alas, your gut always knows. Can't always have the overall genius of shows like Six Feet Under, and Transparent that are funny, poignant, and life-like without trying; they've set the bar way too high I guess.

I watched clips of it, stupidly I guess, before checking the show out. That was a mistake. I totally respect your opinion but Armando Ianucci writes cutting insults moulded together by stories. I don't think he's going for realism in Veep, although The Thick Of It captured UK politics almost perfectly. He likes swearing, insults and people who swear and insult people well. This show needs its own Malcolm Tucker but I think it's fucking funny.
