Its not the fact that they all said IU and SMU don't belong. It's that they were all shilling for Bama and South Carolina. They make billions of dollars like it’s nothing They got a lot more right than they did wrong Picking a few games and saying “see it’s not true” is completely ridiculous The only way to truly take the emotion and politician out of the decision is to go with the betting line and use that to choose I hope they don’t But then again I’m not going crazy because a few games were blowouts Do you think the committee can see the future ? Of course not The same people who said SMU and Boise don’t belong also said Arizona state didn’t belong And the Boise game was fairly close The AZ state game was a classic And the smu game sucked I mean do you want them to get it perfect What then ? Every game goes to 14 overtime’s ? The outrage is just outrage because people enjoy being upset with something and they believe they are better at deciding things than others That’s all it is

@@sethmontank8623It will never stop, because their heads are shoved so far up their butt. Indiana had the best common opponent numbers of anyone in the country. IU played Notre Dame closer If you rewatch the OSU game, IU played them better than Oregon just did, in Columbus. Please do not suggest that Vegas power rankings should determine the CFP field! The spirit of competition, wins and losses, must matter (which they bascially do not in neutral field point spread favorability rankings).

Guys, players sit out in these games. Go to different schools and don't play. It's going to be this way. No matter how good the team is. It's college. Every team can get blown out. Especially if the roster isn't deep. Some of the schools it is not. Period, they got 3 guys or 2 that's supper elite.

Looking back Texas did everything they could to lose that game The defense gave up two touchdowns in five minutes with two point conversions to tie it, the Texas kicker had two chances to win and missed the second from 38 yds. with 2 seconds left after a drive from their own 25 in two minutes. So just how good was Arizona State?

12 teams is a solid format, but they screwed up by not reseeding. All other playoff formats reseed each round, but not division 1 football, because they want to be different? Or are they lazy? Who knows, but it was shameful. That was the only failure of this college football post season.

I'm not sure if Dan meant it leterally about Vegas having a say, but that would not be a good idea because Vegas takes into consideration how many people are going to bet on certain teams. Ohio State, Alabama, other big names are going to draw more betters than lower tier teams, and that would lead oddsmakers to manipulate odds and rankings to get betting volume working in their favor.

"they don't belong there"...."Bama should be in" etc., is all due to one fundamental flaw to the system - that 8 of the 12 teams are in the playoff based on a subjective consideration (rankings). We don't experience this in other leagues because the path to get in is fixed and known by all parties before the season. If the Denver Broncos beat the chiefs and get into the AFC playoffs, we won't have hours of talk shows and call-ins talking about why Cincinnati really should be in. The whole concept of subjective opinions on who is more deserving to get in is ludicrous and it's not solved by more or less teams in a playoff. The only solution is qualifying by virtue of your position relative to your conference. So each conference winner gets in (6), and if they want to have a 12-team playoff then top 2 teams in each conference. If you don't finish 1 or 2 in your conference you don't "deserve" to be in a playoff, even if some writers and talking heads "think" you're better than a conference winner, it means nothing. And, Independents, join a conference!

Agreed. The NFL uses objective criteria. College football uses subjective criteria.
@nickcervantez7202Күн бұрын
Huge part of that is that the nfl plays enough games to go based off of wins and losses alone. There's only so many games they play in college and more upsets that it is hard to make a conclusion based off numbers alone

Wish they would change the second round to be on campus. All four bye teams play neutral site games more than a full week after their competition played their first game. It reduced the impact of the bye and it gave more advantage to the non-bye team than they had deserved. Give the teams who have byes one home game and make the games Saturday to Saturday. Give up on forcing those games onto NYE / NYD.

It's not that there were teams that shouldn't be in the playoffs, it's that the playoffs have too many teams. Yet aren't 12 teams capable of winning ah NC. 4 or 6 each year is all that's needed. Look at the NFL. Playoff blowouts every year because teams get in that shouldn't because they're in a weak division.
@JOKEY6822 сағат бұрын
Really all a team should have to do is win. So what if one team or conference might be weaker that’s beauty of competition. Teams that get/got blown doesn’t mean they didn’t deserve to be there to me. The system now is based on a group of people’s opinion on who deserves it rather than just winning. I’m in the SEC and I believe if you don’t win enough games then you shouldn’t be considered for the playoffs.

@@CJ87317 I agree. I think Alabama, Ole Miss, and South Carolina were overall more talented and had much tougher schedules but on a week to week basis Indiana blew out just about every team they faced. They faced weak competition and buried them, they did what they were supposed to do. They lost handily to Ohio State at Ohio State but we all knew Ohio State was really good. I think SOS should matter but so should winning and if you are winning convincingly and other teams are losing games, I think the team that is winning all of their games deserves to be in. It's one thing to lose to a good team, it's one thing to lose to a good team and have an off day against a mediocre team, it's another thing like Alabama to lose to a good team, lose to a mediocre team, and get easily beat by another mediocre team. To me at that point you don't deserve to be in and I like Alabama so I'm not a hater. I was cheering for them, wanted them to win but to me you can't make a case for them simply because the SEC might be the best conference in a year in which the SEC is probably not that much better than everyone else like in the past.
