Why is there such a backlash nowadays in sports that is wrapped around equality? When the William Sisters entered tennis it was all about the game, when Tiger Woods entered golf every narrative was about the game then why is all the talk with Caitlin Clark in the WNBA Not just about the game, 62 broken records, no one else like her, she is the GOAT!
@nancy9891
@nancy9891 Ай бұрын
Race was talked about when the Williams sisters and Woods came along. The timing was right and there was not a lot of toxic media. No You Tube or Fox News was not as popular and separatist. Rush Limbaugh was the white victimhood leader and more came along. The hatred of Caitlin is such a foolish concept. The commissioner on down from the owners to the players. Sickening

I would call her the, Michael Jordan, the Jackie Robinson, the Ichiro Suzuki, and the Venus Williams of the WNBA. Without Ichiro, Shohei Ohtani doesn't happen. Without Venus, her sister Serena doesn't become the greatest women's tennis player of all time. Without Michael, the NBA might be in the same boat that the WNBA currently is. Without Jackie, there would be no Hank Aaron, Ken Griffey Junior, or probably even Julio Rodriguez in MLB.

Look at the after-game interviews with Clark. She talks about her faults and how she needs to get better. She praises her teammates and loves the support she gets from all of them. Her mind is entirely on basketball. In after-game interviews from other teams, especially with the likes or Reece and Wilson, the race card immediately comes out, especially if a question is asked about defending against Clark. No mention of how they might try to improve, no thanking their teammates for their play and support. It's all about them, and their social agenda. These women need to get a clue. You have to be blind not to have noticed that people are tired of the woke attitude and the race card being brought up. Fans go to these games to see women playing basketball. It's that SJW agenda that has kept people away from the WNBA for since its inception. Grow up ladies. It is Clark and the rest of the Fever, who have gained the attention of fans across the country and the world. This 22, now 23-year-old has shown more maturity than all of you. Listen to what her teammates think of Caitlyn. I bet they are damn glad that Clark got selected to play on the Fever and not some other team.

I don't get it. Caitlin Clark is a generational talent. She is pure fun to watch play the game of basketball. She's in constant motion - there's always something to watch: will she get open when she cleans who's guarding her off on the pick, will she shoot then or pass, will she get the ball and hit somebody under the basket for a bunny, etc.? She is a License to Print Money for all other elements connected to the WNBA: TV networks, equipment manufacturers, teams, arenas, other players - all stand to make scads of dough just by basking in her light. What do they do instead? They whine that no one should make it about 1 player, they allow hard fouls on Clark that aren't called, and they make sure their whining is caught on camera.They are chopping off the head of the Golden Goose as she's laying her next golden egg. Dan Patrick is right on point. He's been around awhile. He's seen Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle, Bob Gibson and Sandy Koufax, Joe Namath, John Unitas, Michael Vick, and Patrick Mahomes, LeBron James and Michael Jordan, Bill Russell and John Havlicek, Muhammed Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard, and finally Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods. For cripes' sake, people! Just hitch on the back of Caitlin's wagon and see how far she can take you.

Shelia J. Why can't Aja, Reese and others put in their work, blood sweat and tear into the game and stop trashing others on Tic toc to make themselves look good. I seen young kids sleep with the soccer ball, total dedication. And btw why does WNBA be recognized. how about v-ball, extreme sport (eileen Gu) all tennis players from the grass roots up to satelite points. There can only be one that is above the rest, exceptional. And Clarks is amoungst a small group of players all were men and most were footballers (soccer) and tennis players. So if clark doesn't get POTY then it would of been a man that gets the award. But look who sell the most world wide. WNBA is only popular (not really) in america. With clark then the league would be unknown

Petty pandering… let’s eliminate point scoring all together, because there aren’t supposed to be winners and losers in sports, isn’t that ridiculous, every athlete sets up their out contract, with their employer based on their specific skill set, so why would recognition be any different, look , in this dog eat dog world, you achieve by a merit system, on performance, if you can’t handle competition, you’re in the wrong industry! CC set a new standard, keep up if you can, trying to knock her down on or off the court should not be acceptable! She doesn’t hide behind her Race, it’s not about Race, it’s about performance, the stats don’t lie.!

It's a no brainer about Patrick's comments. The problem going forward IMO is that if Clark has a sophomore slump her detractors will use that against her. If she has another stellar start to the next season, someone, somewhere will do something that may injure her seriously. If that happens, the league will pay the price. She's already got plenty with her endorsements for life. I wouldn't blame her a bit if she went to Europe.

Person of the year is not the same as sports of the year or team of the year, it's appreciating the milestone performance of a rookie player coming in and smashing records in spite of the jealous antics of thugball. Basketball is a team sport and she made her team exciting to watch and follow. These jealous players need to go out and break your own records and up your game, and you'll get the limelight.

Pero toda su gran carrera de entrenador, llegó a su fin, por eso tiene el culo que no le cabe un alfiler. Yo estoy metido en esto desde los partidos de las finales de las universidades. Hmmm, seems like professional sports are "singling" out specific players all the time and other players are not crying in their beer about it. So this team owner sets the culture of her team in that the success of the team is due to the team. And when one or some her players who contribute to that success (by their statistics) want more money, she says, no, you're just as good as the rest of the "team"..........so go sit down. We have a socialistic team culture.......one for all, all for one and we give out participation trophies for each team member.
