Always enjoyed him at CBS news. He really was good reporter and anchor.

I agree with you that he was a good reporter and anchor. I liked him on CBS news too....he is 91 years old, a beautiful age.....all the best for this man in the future from Fort Worth, Texas.

Peter Jennings, Sam Donaldson, Dan Rather, Barbara Walters, Connie Chung... they're all great. When the news was actually reported on the news. Thank you! Had no idea he was part of the first weather hurricane forecast coverage.

I started watching news at the same time he became the CBS anchor in 1981. I remember the TV week which I read religiously and he was on it. The hype was whether he could replace Cronkite and should Charles Kuralt and Bill Kurtis should have been the ones. He was consistent. I thought Frank Reynolds/ Peter Jennings was better. But watching those three of Tom, Peter and Dan made TV news better.

@@bigverybadtomyeah or like Zi on Don the jab salesman. We’re surrounded by phonies. Though Rather did a decent job against George Bush Sr re: Iran Contra.
