Nice heartfelt reaction, Pastor! As a fan of Dan Vasc before this performance, you might be interested to know the reason he told us, his fans, why he made this. Dan is a Christian brother who lives in Brazil. He wanted to bring some attention to the Easter holiday, so he recorded this and released it on Good Friday, 2023. Also, the harmonica he used was his first musical instrument, given to him by his daddy when he was 7 years old. Love and peace, my brother!

@@Vmurph Dan did sing that song beautifully, however, as a Christian, I don't like the lyrics to the song. It makes Jesus look like He was doubting His Father and changing His mind, etc. Jesus may have have sweat blood and been afraid for sure, but He knew His Father and He didn't ever doubt Him.

@@dianalindenmeyer4847 Yes, I feel the same way. I was only judging his performance. Aside from some of those lyrics, the song itself is beautiful. I saw the play 40 years ago (in my teens) and used to listen to the Soundtrack over and over, so the original is literally burned into my memory. So when I heard Dan perform it, I felt that he WAY outperformed Ted Neeley’s version, and that impressed me. Not only did he *sing* it much better, but the *emotion* he put into it was palpable. It far exceeded Neeley’s.

Loved the "Master Yoda" look in the first half, like "I've heard this ten thousand times, you can't impress me with my own powers" - then just the sheer joy when discovering just how much power this song really has. Believer or not, this is a powerful song, but the full scale of that power has been concealed from us... until now.

Oh, and Pastor... Don't suppress good emotions. Just the bad ones. It is a good thing to laugh, cry, shout, sing, jump, wave your arms around - out of joy. This was truly how this song was written! Can you imagine a slave trader, ship captain in the 1770s coming face to face with his creator and understanding just how deep grace went in his life? Emotion. Power. Repentance. Thankfulness. Crying our heart out? Perfect on every level. John Newton (songs author) went on to become a daunting father of the faith in the America's.

Dan gave us a completely new way of feeling God’s grace with this rendition of this beautiful hymn. I have never been lifted as I have as I listen to Dan teach us through the power he puts into the lyrics and notes of this hymn. He helps us see that we are wretched but can be saved. That we should ever sing God’s praise and that we may be blind but we can see because of grace. Dan takes this song to church and me with it. This hymn has been waiting for hundreds of years to be sung by Dan Vasc using his powerful voice and singing it as I believe the angels would.Thank you for the beautiful review Pastor James. I love the power and enthusiasm. He's taken an old lady song and made it a Warrior's song. Jacob, standing on the hill proclaiming his praise of his God even though the men of the plain will come to kill him for it. Fearless and powerful. His band is FEARLESS on the album THE ANCIENT BOOK OF WISDOM, he wrote several songs straight from the Bible. He is from Brazil. That was his dads harmonica and favorite song After loosing his dad to cancer he performed THE LAST GOODBYE from THE HOBBIT with tears and passion, and perfection. He is a wise young man and extremely hard worker. He does his own arrangement, instruments and filming. His brother and a friend play on many of his covers. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for your awesome reaction, for over 3 months I’ve gone in search of them to find the joy of first hearing. I’ve shared Dan Vasc’s Amazing Grace rendition everywhere I can, with churches, pastors, friends, everyone. I have to admit surprise to relatively cool receptions by some pastors and churches because of the heavy metal connotation. They obviously did not give it a listen. Truly so sad. Dan is amazing and yes, he does it all!!! His portrayal of the agony in the garden of Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar will truly grab your heart and breath - some focus on the lyric inconsistancy with the Scripture, but the portrayal of the suffering humanity within Him is the message of the performance. Go down the Dan Vasc rabbit hole and rediscover the meaning of your Faith. And then there is opera, Disney and more.

Dan Vasc has worked to develop incredible power and range in his voice and used it to God's Glory in this song which he put out for Easter. He has stated he is a Christian. Much of his stuff is secular in nature; he has well over 200 videos out there put out over nearly 10 years. Specifically faith based songs include Handel's "Hallelujah," a cover of Roy Khan's "For All" (watch for his message at the end of the song), "Adeste Fideles" and "Angels We Have Heard on High." This is the best version of "Amazing Grace" I'm sure I will ever hear.

Goosebumps over and over again. Dan Vasc is a metal musician of the highest order. The variety of his voices is sometimes unbelievable. Simply great. Make more reactions from Dan Vasc, you won't be disappointed. He performed the song "Burn butcher burn" from the Witcher series. The "Phantom of the Opera", Disney and so many other songs covered.... The selection is huge ❤️. And last but not least, his band Fearless is awesome 😍

Great review, thank you. It is a truly wonderful version of this timeless classic. If you would like to hear another great version of this masterpiece, check out Judy Collin's version. You might need to search a little because she performed it many, many years ago but at that time, she was one of the best folk singers of that era. Thank you for presenting this video. You might want to play it for your congregation. I'm sure they will appreciate it.

Thank you so much for the great reaction and your little in-depth afterwords on the Grace of God, and what it is in our life. If you want to go more into some of Dan's Christian songs, you can check his covers of 'oh come all ye faithful' which he sings in latin, 'angels we have heard on high' which he sings in 4 languages, 'for all' where he talks in the end about his own faith, and his amazing theatrical/musical performance of 'Gethsemane' from the musical Jesus Christ superstar. He also sings a very beautiful and emotional rendition of 'An American Trilogy', in honor of his father, who passed away from cancer just a few days prior. There are more, and lots of his more metal songs have a spiritual content or message. He also sings pure opera, like Nessun Dorma, Phantom of the opera etc. I think there will be plenty of material to dive into, and it would be awesome with the in-depth afterword about the Christian meaning of the songs.
