As the grandson of an Australian that fought in PNG for 2+ years. Toward the end of his life he started to talk about his wartime experiences occasionally. He confirmed the fact that prisoners weren't taken unless intelligence wanted some taken. He said jungle fighting often descended into medieval hand to hand fighting with whatever you could kill someone with. The Japanese gained strength from their cultural upbringing, my grandfathers unit gained their strength from wanting revenge.

My father said the same about his time in Vietnam near the end of his life. He said even though the VC were no match for him and his guys in the jungle hand to hand, they just kept coming. I had no idea what he went through. I took him into my friends airsoft shop, and set I'm up with an m-16. He he shot one shot, handed the gun to me and said: 'I want to go now. And I don't want to come back here again boy, understand "? I didn't understand, he was an armed individual, etc. I suppose the gun triggered him.

Like bodies of water with multiple rivers, streams, occasional rapids, and water falls . . with some animated drama throughout . . It's true a story Mingle with opinion, perspectives, explanations that develop and mesh many things together That makes for a great ocean of knowledge and wonder . . We are that ocean . Fed by these water ways created by Dan . . Another Fantastic Job . . Thank you . .

History teachers aren't necessarily historians. My history teacher from high school was great, but I wouldn't qualify him as a "historian." My college history professor would probably be a good historian, though, if he wasn't one already. Frankly, Dan Carlin is more of a historian than a lot of history teachers. The history process is one of picking a subject, researching the subject, analyzing the research, and more or less coming to some sort of meaningful (and new) conclusion/insight. Dan probably does that a lot more than a lot of history teachers do.

The audio podcast version is 30 minutes longer than this KZbin version. . . . . Just kidding, they're the same exact length 😁 But if it'd been true, you would have gone straight for the longer version instead. ... cos there's no having enough of _Hardcore History._

This is 4 hrs and 53 minutes long the one that I listened to last night on his website is only 4 hrs and 5 minutes long so this youtube version has about 50 minutes more content than what is found on the his website.

Oh snap I thought that I had already heard the episode that I listened to last night but what I just realized is that part 3 on the website is the same material as Part 2 and I did think that it was strange that he was going over the same material but it had been so long that I thought that it was just that he approaching the same material from a different position.
