Rewatching this today, and I find the scene between Zach and Christian at the end so touching and heartwarming. Christian is really struggling to figure out who he is and feeling rejected and worthless after being let down (again) by his dad. Instead of Zach getting mad at Christian for not showing up for the 2nd day of circus or buying into his whole, "I don't want you to make me your project" or "maybe I'm not meant to commit to anything", Zach just affirms and steadies him saying, "I don't think so mate. I don't think that's you at all." It's people like Zach and Sammy and occasionally Tara believing in Christian and believing he can be his best self that eventually help Christian grow so much at the academy. The scene is so moving. An excellent example of how a mentor can be.

Im the last episode Christian says “the girl that helps you forget the darkness” it means that he sees Kat as a protection not really as an addition to his life. I think the show hints that they’re relationship doesn’t go deeper than the physical stuff.

They make Kat and Christian visibly kiss so much on the show in the short span of time that they're together and it makes me so mad because their relationship is clearly so superficial. Like they don't go deep. Christian just likes it cuz she lights stuff up cuz she makes it easy and doesn't dig deep. Tara does which is why in the end he loves her even tho it's difficult. It makes me so mad because they have less kisses and their relationship is so much better. Of course she can be obsessive and overdoes it from time to time, but she wants to understand him deeply. Like everyone around her says that she is quirky and can do crazy stuff, so why is she not allowed to criticze as well? Or to at least talk about issues of Christian's past which are not solved. She never intended to hurt Christian, but he clearly did. He was aware of hurting Tara by breaking up carelessly. He was aware of what he was doing to her by kissing Kat. Couples have to fight sometimes to clear things up. Kat and Christian never really fought because Kat likes to make it uncomplicated. However, this is the exact reason why their relationship is kind of superficial.

Kat didn't say anything about her being in love with Christian when he was with Tara, because she didn't want to hurt her or risk their friendship. And she wasn't the reason Tara and Christian broke up. They constantly fought, and even if I think they did (or should at least) end up together, they just weren't ready here. It wasn't exactly smart of Kat to date Christian so soon after, but I understand it, because in the end she has the right to do what makes her happy.

So this episode hinted why Christian always run away from his problems. It’s genetic. His dad started feeling Christian was full on this father/son relationship, he couldn’t handle it, so he bailed, blamed on Sydney was full on. Christian couldn’t handle his true feelings of Tara, so he continually push her away. This episode, Tara and Kat regain their friendship with each other, Christian realize he needs to start fighting over his problems instead of running away. Didn’t see any kissing moment between Christian and Kat after this episode, it’s a sign!
