Given Abby's mother, Maryen, was a retired dancer who opened her own dance school, I am surprised Abby's performance was not more polished and refined. It would have been nice if there had been clips of other dances performed at this review or competition, so that we could see more of the typical dances styles of the day, and compare these to Abby's. I am glad that you mentioned near the end of this, quite fairly IMHO, that Abby was/is a great choreographer. Insofar as her on-screen persona is concerned, and also those of the mums (I'm English, so you get the British 'mum'), one has to remember that DM was a so-called _'Reality'_ show, and although it was unscripted, it was nevertheless _'storyboarded'_ by the producers to create scenarios (conflicts) for the girls, mums and Abby to improvise and ad-lib to, and they got paid for it. Abby's tax evasion, however, is an entirely different matter! 😁 *_R_* 😎

@@amazinggraciegurl If she were as bad off screen as portrayed in DM, she would never have kept any students long enough to build a successful business. You need to learn to apply a touch of logic to be able to recognize and separate tabloid fantasy from reality, and not be drawn in by it. Remember, despite all of Abby's on screen abuse of JoJo, she and the Siwas are good friends. And so are she and Cathy (Candy Apples).

At 16 years old and having a mother who was a dance instructor, wow, I would have expected much much better. I guess she has learned a heck of a lot over the years or has very good instructors working for her now. That was awful, sorry but I have seen 2 year olds dance better than that.

I really enjoy ballroom dancing! I started about 4 years ago. I am learning both Latin and Standard. The video of the dancer was ok but not polished. I am slightly disappointed..Do have pointers and flexability....for example learning splits and higher kicks....thanks!
