This is the one that has me needing this album. This is the one that has me thinking this will dethrone Mothership as the goat for me. Tilian sounds incredible, raw and full of emotion. Jon spitting some of his best work here, what a sick breakdown. The highlight is of course that this has Andrew written all over it. The second verse guitar riff changing but still imitating the first verse. And the bridge/outro is so haunting and smooth, I wanted it to go on longer. This is DGD at their best. And if you think about it too, eidola is a very spiritual band, and nothing to do in the religious sense but more of the practice itself. The way Andrew plays, is like sitting with “god”. Being exposed to truth in the sound of mathematical notes, tones and resonance. Tilian’s second verse kind of describes him only being able to tell the truth in the form of song and the last 4 albums, he’s written from personal experience/s. @@Polyfire I'm so sorry to hear that. It's like the mother of all gut punches. I hope your fur baby recovers. I'm extremely thankful because my bubby is coming home today. They told us his kidneys are functioning and filtering out toxins again and yesterday evening we were able to get him to eat and drink water which is a HUGE improvement from the first day where all he could do is blink at me and move his tail slightly. The vets said the amount of potassium in his system from no filtration should have stopped his heart but he fought through and clung to life when nobody believed in him. My wife had picked up the pen to sign the eithinization forms two days ago and I freaked out and wouldnt let her and here we are two days later and he's coming home!! I'm literally not even upset that we have to feed him expensive wet food for the rest of his life little king deserves it for fighting through.

Have to disagree with the "magnum opus" bit. None of the singles so far have been better than anything off of Mothership imo. And even that isn't their magnum opus.

Shut up, Christian. The songs from JJ are def on par with Mothership which almost any fan WILL say is their best album. Coupled with the length of JJ, it very well could be their MO. Let me guess, you think DBM2 is their magnum opus *rolls eyes*

One of the musical motifs sounds like it was inspired by Counterfeit Shrines by Eidola. "Pigeon in my vision..." a callback to Demo Team from Acceptance Speech. Love the ear candy callbacks to the catalogue and the reintegration of material in a new context.

Great song, great band! Seriously top 5 in my bands list, right up there with Rise Against, Gojira, and BMTH. We had a good run with Tilian, despite the events that happened, he is a vital part of the success that is shared by all band members. He's a human who fucked up, but his contribution to the DGD discography is not to be put down or ignored. I believe everyone can be redeemed, including him. DGD had come this far, only time will tell how much farther it will go. Best underrated band of all time.
@murmurva2 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind he's not out of the band, yet. Unpopular opinion, but I think with proper therapy and work, Tilian will stay in the band. Does it feel good saying that? No, of course not. But it doesn't change that he, far more than a certain previous example, has been accountable and willing to make changes in his life. If Johnny of all people was allowed to be in the band as long as he was, I feel like it's only fair to wait and see how Tilian does out of therapy. It can't erase the things done, and I'm not saying to forgive him, but the pure fact is he fucked up, he knows he did, and he has become a huge part of this band. He is substitutable, but I feel like much less replaceable, if that makes sense. It's a heartbreaking realization and doesn't taste good ever considering, but I have faith in him rising from that. Unlike some who would sooner become more and more detestable and horrible with time.
