Makes me feel old. Matt was one of my good friends in high school, I went to every show from 2005 to about 2014. I remember the day I met him. He was wearing a Silverstein shirt and laughed because I was too. So many good memories with that dude. I miss being young and sitting in class with him. I remember the day he told me that he started a band and they named it dance Gavin dance and I should come to his show. I really miss the old days.
@gavinc63662 жыл бұрын
Damn, thats so cool! Did he explain why they named it DGD??
@music_penguin2 жыл бұрын
@@gavinc6366 Yeah dude! He was like the first show we played we didn’t have a band name so they needed to come up with something so they came up with dance Gavin dance. And they just kept it. Years later he said that they were thinking of just sticking with dgd like mgmt but he was like people are use to us being dance Gavin dance and people can also call them dgd.

@효린-e4d5 жыл бұрын
@@austiny.5676 That's actually not his vocal chords, surprisingly they seem moreless "Okay". He just has no breath anymore due to poor health. hitting these notes is mostly a matter of lungs and clearly all the drugs/smoking he did took a hit on his ability to do so.

@PeeNidsCold4 жыл бұрын
Tilian does that part without effort lmao
@ondrejfilipec70684 жыл бұрын
@@PeeNidsCold I thought that too, but there is actually a difference between Tillian and Jonny in this case - Jonny is belting that part, that's why it sounds so powerful, whereas Tilian (usually) "just" goes for the notes in this song. Compare Tillian in Times New Roman and the ending of Man of The Year or during Variation, TNR in his version (at least the ones I've heard) is nowhere near that powerful. Tillian hits higher due to his naturally high pitched voice (imo thats why it sounds so effortless), Jonny had more power when he was in his prime. I love both btw, not trying to say one is better than another
@brandonfreese30052 жыл бұрын
This video is filled with so much 2000s angst. It's excellent. Eric was still on bass. Mess had long hair. Jonny was still hardcore dancing. Will is playing a flying V. Everything was right in the world.

@ofallmyintention94968 жыл бұрын
+Danre LAN-I-ER I don't know...If you look at some performances with Emarosa, Jonny is plenty-loud, even without the mic up-close. He held the mic quite far away from his mouth many times, and his voice was still louder than anything else...On the other hand, compared to the musicians, he is very weak.
@GarrySugabo6 жыл бұрын
Dante LAN-I-ER Nah! There were ol’ rumors that during the show the tech didn’t adjust their mics or whatnot. Jon Mess’ mic was broken or so and during the 3 minute mark of this video you can already clearly see Jonny upset with the mics and Jon Mess pissed and gave up screaming his vocal parts. You can see Jonny just upset glanced and shook his head and started screaming some parts of Jon Mess’ scream vocals to up the anti and showing the fans it was the mic.

Definitely Johnny at his best; his voice before he carelessly smoked his voice away like most singers do, not to mention time as well. He was so good during this period. I believe this is one of their greatest performances.
@FebFallsChrisNJ15 жыл бұрын
I dont understand why there even has to be any argument about the vocals. Jonny Craig's style was way more colorful and creative. Yeah, the new guy is a good singer, but Jonny Craig is someone I'll follow no matter what band he's in, because he's that good. And beside that, his style is completely fucking raw, you can hear that there's no formal training whatsoever, which, in my opinion, actually gives him an edge and keeps him from holding back creatively.
