Not lack of promotions on western but from the very start, LSM never plan on promote them on US. Exo is a group that heavily based on China and Korea (hence that's why they debuted with 4 CHINA MEMBERS and 8 KOREAN MEMBERS, also until now they only still release two version of their song, Korean and Chinese (for Japan, sometimes they release song only for Japanese fans)

Its because Lay (the only chinese member left )is promoting in China bec of the political issue between China and SKorea. And also 2 members were enlisted in the military. Originally EXO debuted as 12 members. 8 Korean and 4 Chinese. But 3 Chinese members left a couple of years after they debuted for personal reasons and issues with SM, the company.

Exo is so versatile in terms of their music, they have many genres in their songs and their title track is always iconic, and it fits so well to them bcause their vocals are insane (that's why people call them the Vocal King in 3rd generation of kpop) and have various voice colors. They have so many achievements, 9 years career, distinguished kpop boygroup, and legendary (many people say it). Unfortunetly, they don't promote to US and Europe, they just focus promoting in South Korea (of course), China and Japan (it's their marketing). It's only a bonus for them to be well-known in the other countries. Now they are in hiatus bcause the members start to go to military. Their last comeback is Obsession with only 6 members (9 members in total).

On the other hand, looking forward for you though to react for some of TAEMIN's Mv again. If you want to see Lee Taemin's versatility. With his lyrical & jazzy movements that give life to the song. You should watch or react to his song Flame of Love & Sayonara Hitori (Goodbye). You'll see there how controlled, elegant & expressive he is. Then, if you want a bit same like Criminal. Want MV was also cool like that one. Full of metaphoric content in the lyrics & music video. The dances no doubt you can count on it. While his Move mv though is a bedroom song, like what some of the reactioners said. With a gender fluidity movements to match the viby song. 👍

YAY! I love new reactors discovering EXO! So EXO and NCT are from the same company. EXO isn't really hip hop as much as they are R&B (although they do any style music). Although they are definitely more old school (90's and 2000's sound is their trademark) while NCT is much more hip hop and more current music trends. As others have said, EXO's concept is deep. Like Alice down the rabbit hole deep. You fall in and you will end up in Wonderland! There are so many theories of all of their storyline clues, etc. People always say you have to watch the videos in order to understand it, and to SOME extent that's true, although others would disagree, based on certain clues. I would wait to dive into their concept too hard since it is mind blowing. A good channel for EXO-L's or those discovering EXO is Cesar Oh. She has done a group guide, individual member guides, and is now starting a series on her version of EXO's theory(ies). It is already the 3rd video in her concept guides and she has only gotten through 3 of their MV's (maybe). I have also seen a lot of theories that all 3rd gen, and now 4th gen (and some 2nd gen even) groups/artists at SM Ent are tied up in EXO's concept.

What's more fascinating is that all their MVs are connected to each other. They are really sticking to the storyline (which is I think the best in KPOP) For example, their debut was on 2012 but from that year, they already gave hints about their future music video years after. I don't know if anyone answered your questions but i'll try... You know the red force so... It made clones of the members when they first debuted and there are 9 exo & 9 x-exo members now. You can see in obsession mv that they're fighting with their own clones (exo in black clothes, x-exo in the colorful mad style) even though that mv has only 6 members in it since 2 members were in military and one is climbing on top in his country, china :D and because they are from exo planet, they have different powers. They also give spoilers and shots with VCRs at concerts about what's going on in details but not in general so we try to figure it out... Idk what to say more but yeah, that is that. By the way you're watching the videos so carefully not to miss anything so i really liked and appreciate this side of you... and also i'm new here but wont be going anywhere :') huh... okay then...

Everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything, is connected in some way to their concept and storyline. EXO's MVs are kind of like a movie -- it's a movie that has been going on for the past 8 years -- since predebut -- and it has no sign of coming to an end any time soon. The one thing you have to keep in mind with all of EXO's MVs, and I really mean all of them -- including their sub-sub-unit MVs and a majority of the member's solo MVs. And because Baekhyun and Kai are involved, even SuperM's storyline -- is that they are all connected and they all tell a little more of EXO's story and why they are on Earth, etc. To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and It is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept. So to really understand EXO you need to start from the very beginning and watch both of their "Mama" MVs. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers. Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary.The group's concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents. SM Entertainment, and its founder, Lee SooMan, has all of EXO's release dates and concepts planned out for years in advance, so it all has been designed to be another chapter in EXO's whole storyline. Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 of the members. Kris and Luhan left in 2014 and Tao left in 2015.) However, now, because they no longer have enough Chinese members they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. (There are 9 members in "Monster.") So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. As the English lines in EXO's "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy." The song's called "Monster," so the words are about acting like a monster: "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... i'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo." LOL So the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think was -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- is also supposed to be the members using their superpowers. And the snake you see is supposed to mirror the beat of the song and theme of the MV. So, like a monster, the beat of the song kind of slithers like a snake as a metaphor for the way the guy slithers in and out of the relationship stealing warmth and affection from the girl, but in the end, leaving her cold and alone like a cold-blooded snake, etc. However, the lyrics of the song really have very little to do with the story in the MV. "Monster" is one example where, if you want to know what the song is about, you should look up an English translation of the lyrics. Because the lyrics in the song tell a different story than the story in the MV. In the song the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. So ... "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... you can call me Monster ... because I'm creeping in your heart babe." The song is about possessing a girl and using her up and throwing her away in the end, but the MV really is about EXO's origin story and about the fact that they are aliens from Planet Exo who have come to Earth on a mission. Also, the majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the members using their powers, so if you know what you are looking for, you might be able to see in the choreography where they are using their powers. The X they make represent EXO. In "Monster" every move of the choreography has been designed to be an extension of their story. For example, D.O. has the power of earth (dirt) which gives him super strength, so during his part in the song and choreography you will see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. Xiumin (Yellow hair) has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography you will see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. Sehun has the power to control wind, so during his parts, you will see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And the part where they are sitting on the ground is supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun. Fun fact: At the end when they are saying "Creepin', Creepin' Creeping ..." the dance move they are doing is the signature dance move the creep from the 1990s American girl group TLC from their song "Creep." Do you see the creep in EXO's moves? And you should also make note that "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster," so when you watch "Lotto," just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is going to take place after, or in conjunction with, the events in "Lotto", and both MVs might make a little more sense to you then. How "Monster" and "Lotto" tie into EXOs larger storyline is a little open ended, but I am pretty sure, that "Lotto" is the prequel to "Monster." So, if you pay attention, I think the story starts out in "Lotto" where the members have somehow infiltrated this big gambling ring and are maybe sort of undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys who are probably members of the Red Force. "Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Forces or the bad guys, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So, that's why you see in "Lotto," and continued in "Monster," the members are fighting against the FBI or police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. For some reason the members of EXO don't want to be discovered, so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. But in the end, as you see in "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape before they are taken to jail and/or captured by the Red Forces, etc. If you want to follow EXO's storyline, some other scenes to take note of: You see Lay crouched in the middle of what looks like a pile of people -- I'm not sure whether these are the FBI agents that the members of EXO have taken down, or if these are members of the Red Force -- and I think he is checking to make sure they are OK and possibly trying to use his power of healing to fix things and heal the injured. This will be important to remember, but I will explain more when you see "Lotto." Because some theories believe that EXO are traveling between time periods and dimensions, I believe in "Monster" they also might be showing how some of the members are arriving on scene at different moments in the timeline of events that are taking place in the MV -- the members don't necessarily arrive at the location together. For instance, you also see Kai standing on or near a giant pile of people as well, and he seems to be standing over them. Some have pointed to this as possibly showing evil X-EXO Kai -- Kai's alter ego clone that was created by the Red Forced and introduced in EXO's "Obsession" MV -- who has done something bad, but I think this may be showing good EXO Kai, who has just shown up at that moment, observing what has taken place. Because Kai has the power of teleportation he is the one that is in charge of bringing the members together and traveling between time and space, so I think he has shown up from a different time or place and is now trying to figure out what has happened and what needs to be done to fix things, etc. Unfortunately, as you can see, what makes EXO's storyline even more difficult to follow is the fact that nothing is ever in chronological order and everything has a tendency to blend together. So you really have to pay close attention to every detail, to even begin to make connections. I've recently gone deeper with the different theories up to the obsession era and one of my favorite ones is the one where everything EXO is going through is a simulation or dream-like state created by the red force to find where the two halves and the heart of the Tree of Life are hidden. In this theory it is also shown how important each member is and how conflicted they are within themselves because they don't know what to believe anymore. There is also the theory that there is a traitor or spy among the members and they are trying to find him, and that also Baek is the key to finding the heart of the Tree of Life or that he's the heart himself. There is also the theory that there are certain members that can come in and out of dream-like state and that are able to communicate with the other members, as well as how EXO counterparts and pairs are part of the whole plot. For sure you should react to Growl, Wolf, and Obsession. And perhaps their debut song MAMA the mv may help you understand a little about the background of ther "alien/wolf" concept there isn't a specific timeline of which video to watch in which order storyline wise, but fans have a lot of online theories and speculations of how they all go together. From them leaving their Exo planets to protect the Tree of Life, using their super powers (each member has a power and is demonstrated in MAMA as well as other videos), and they are captured by the Red Force, experimented on, cloned and they break out of the facility. This video goes hand in hand with Lucky One and you see them in the being experimented on and their powers neutralized by the Red Force. In other videos like Kokobop and Power, they regain their powers to try and defeat the Red Force. Then in Obsession you see their clones come and fight them and win. Musically, they have a few sounds. Obviously they are a pop group so they have plenty of more poppy songs (Lucky, XOXO, Power, and their new song that just released today Don't Fight The Feeling), but you also hear a lot of funk/disco/jazzy songs (Growl, Love Me Right), hip hop/darker/harder hitting songs like Overdose, Lotto, Monster and Obsession. Kokobop has a reggae feel and you may want to react to that dance too because it's a bit different. The have plenty of ballads and soft songs as well. Exo is kind of a eclectic sort. They don't stray toooo far from what is their pop/rnb/funk style, but they do have different variations and musical influences in their sounds. So it's always refreshing to hear! Lyrically, I'm sure you read them, but Monster depicts an abusive relationship haha so ummm yeah there's that, I guess.
