Heavy duty scaffold foam tubes are BIG BEN tubes distributed in UK by Leaches, only problem is you can only buy in bulk so you have to go walk-about and ...er.. 'aquire' a few from nearby sites or ponce some from any scaffold crews you might find with them on the truck if they will flog you a couple for the price of a few beers

Your monitors need to use the length of the room… ?

Yes, ideally one does that in smaller room to best mitigate rear wal reflections coming from behind, but it's not critical. Depends how experienced you are mixing too. Also I have more than one pair of monitors & before i ripped the room out the larger pair where on the shortest wall. I'll be doing some videos on that when the studio is finished and we get back & running again with content, but in a nutshell, the way I mix is i actually do quite a bit of the mix balance listening to the sound from outside the room.
