I was just thinking, this would be great for building core muscle strength....I have bad hips from arthritis , so I don't know how well I'll do, but will give this a try

Check out Keto diet - greatly reduced my migraine AND my arthritis. And then its easier to dance. Dr Berg on youtube is good
@ZumbaShanАй бұрын
@@kathleenmartin7498I used to teach a core + belly dance fusion class and I found that starting out on a big physio ball really helped everyone to build core strength. Sit with your feet parallel in front of yourself, hips width apart. Edge down from the top of the ball toward the front so you don’t risk falling backwards (be sure you’re sitting in a safe area, free from o stacked in case you topple over). Begin with a gentle bounce to get your blood flowing and to get used to being on the ball. Next do “cat /cow” moves with your pelvis whilst sitting up straight up on the ball. Really dig deep into your lower abdominal muscles and and breathe steadily as you move. Remember to be gentle! Then try hitching your hip up on one side, then the other using mostly your abs and breath. You can move on to hip circles when you’re warmed up. Imagine pushing your belly button back toward your spine when you tilt your pelvis under with an exhale, and filling back up with air as you make your way to the back. Put more emphasis on tucking under and forward and just release to the back so you don’t stress your lower back. Try your best to navigate all of the degrees of your hip circles, making them even. Start with the direction that feels least natural and work out each side / direction equally. When you use your ball for sit-ups, be sure to cradle your head in your hands and isolate your work to your abs as best as possible. A few ab exercises go a long way on the ball, which is why I love it. I didn’t intend to write this novella! I just know how it is to deal with pain and also know how effective and fun it is to build core strength and range of motion on the ball. Cheers to your health and happiness 🫶🌹🫶 Oh, please listen to great music when you work out /dance and remember always that you are beautiful.

I’m from Samoa, but recently have moved away. I want to reconnect with my roots and I got sick of watching ote’a videos without actually doing it lol. The nostalgia is unreal. I remember watching my sister’s school ote’a and practicing with her after school. This feels like home. Love the tutorial! ❤

I have wanted to learn the Tamure since I was a little girl. In my 20s I took 1 class, at a Tahitian lady's home in Los Angeles. My schedule did not permit me to return. This the 1st step. It makes me wonder how islands all learnd the same dance and who started it? Would be fascinating to find out. I also find the African dances so beautiful but I don't know the name for them, I'm sure there are many from different nations. It always saddens me when old (and new) Hollywood TV shows try to pass the o tea Tahiti ("Tamure") as Hawaiian Hula when it is not. They have their own dance, which is beautiful too, but completely different (arms & hands tell a story), their hips barely sway and no drums but the beautiful ukulele plays the undulating sounds. Of course, I am not a fan of "fusion" because this dilutes both dances and traditions should be respected, the same that we respect the ancestors of both islands. (Although Tahitians are said to have been the ones who discovered Hawaii and migrated there, though I am not sure how accurate that is. I love both cultures, I am really in love with both yet I adore Tahiti the best.
