I just spent a year away from hooping... all the trick shows, Instagram tension, subtle competitiveness to be better, and stagnant flows really got to me. I deleted my Instagram and stopped comparing myself. I picked up my hoop a few days ago and feel liberated

Makes my heart happy to hear this!! To be perfectly honest with you, I've been pretty much recycling the same hoop movements and flow combos for like...5 years now. As a performer and teacher I used to feel a bit guilty that I wasn't compelled to learn more or mix it up at all. But honestly, this is everything I need from hooping right now. I came to the hobby for release and the body experience. I feel the soul and body connection and experience music. Stepping away from the constant need to be at a different place and just enjoy the moment you're in is HUGE. I'm really glad you've found joy in your hoop again. Christine search for a 'hoop dancing hoop'. The larger in diameter and how heavier, the easier it is. Start with about 100cm/105cm diameter (sorry don't know the inches) and work your way up to 85/90 cm or so. Use grip tape and a heavier kind of hoop. For off body hooping it's easier to use a smaller and lighter hoop (a polypro hoop is for off body and advanced hoopers). Just started myself, but that's all I've learned so far 😉

The multiple skillsets combined with the shapes in front of that sun the water the sand the sound and that view has been a beautiful thing to see. Excellent work 👏 👍 Mobility, coordination, flow state, the elements, the beauty of YHWY'S creation = A real work of Art. Thanks for sharing. I hope my lady whose mentioned hula hoop a couple times now takes this up its got so many great healthy qualities and clearly is great for the mind the body from the joints to flow state. - Loving this! ❤ I like bodyflow/kettlebell flows/clubbell flows/mace flows/ mini ball & shot put ball flows/Rope Flows ect.. all the flows have characteristics of my first 2 passions of Dance/Break dance & Martial Arts. Honestly, if you've never done any of those physical arts these are great ways to cover many of the same attributes & health benefits. If my lady don't eventually pick it up II might just mess her up and master some of this on the downlow hahaha while she's chirping not doing haha I'm definitely considering it. I am proud she's been picking back up on the walking though. It used to bring her a great mental state. She hears me mention flow state I can tell she's never really had that experience i first got it running as a kid. Once you've had it so many times there's nothing like it so you have to get it in as many variations of ways possible - Ha Bust it out in a 3 - 6 mnths after and be like baby I encouraged you after you mentioned it said I'd support your journey while you was distracted ive been doing it for you to show you it can be done. LETS GO!!! HAha (I haven't seen no dudes tearing this up yet ill have to see. Haha I'd prefer she do it for all the benefits she could gain but we'll see 😃 you can lead them to water ... when they are thirsty well you know what they say haha)

Thank you so much for the lovely, thoughtful comment. I find it so fascinating the way different people use different methods to drop into their "flow state", different sports/ movements/ activities. I think finding the one that speaks to you is a real blessing and I haven't found anything that comes close like hula hooping, though being an adventurous spirit and trying new things is definitely key in helping you discover what you might love. You should definitely take on hula hooping as a couple activity with your lady. If you need help, message me.
