When Kratos made his way up to Midgard and the Norse Realms, all he wanted was just some peaceful R&R. Sip some mead, chop down a few trees, maybe go hunting - just take a break from all the god killing that he had just been through down in Greece.
He definitely didn’t plan on either of these two guys showing up on his doorstep. Thor - the Norse God of Thunder, and Baldur - the Norse God of Light.
These two gods each gave Kratos a heck of a good fight, but they never got the chance to fight each other. Kratos made sure of that. And so, I’m really interested today - who would win between these two half-brothers?
Well we’re gonna analyze their strengths and weaknesses, their powers and abilities, their fighting skill and their weapons - all of it - to find out who wins in the Battle Arena! Lets do it

It's pretty clear that Thor is more powerful than Baldur. While Baldur is powerful in his own right and had invulnerability to all threats physical or magical, it doesn't mean that he can't be defeated. Kratos did defeat Baldur in their first fight, despite being unable to die. So that proves that Baldur can be defeated despite the spell on him. When Thor first fought Kratos, it was the same position that Baldur had when he first fought Kratos, and it was clear that Thor wasn't fighting with everything he had, yet he gave Kratos more trouble. Kratos even wrote in the journal that Thor didn't fight wildly like Baldur did. The only advantage that Baldur had over Thor was invulnerability, and without that, he has no advantage over Thor. I believe Thor would defeat Baldur, whether or not he could kill him.

I think a better (and probably more annoying) fight would be Heimdall vs Baldur, because they both can’t really do anything to each other, and their fights with Kratos are pretty even. (I still think Baldur loses, because his strategy is to tank hits rather than avoid them, but that might be evened out by Heimdall’s lack of training. I’m interested to see what everyone else thinks)

I feel like Thor can casually just deliver one hit knock outs to Baldr repeatedly, or bury him underneath something really heavy. In terms of durability, Baldr is invincible, but Thor should be able to tank a lot of his hits too esp with lightning empowerment. I think Thor should have no problem matching Baldr's speed either. That said, given how frustrated Baldr got at Kratos simply being persistent. I bet that he himself will give up once he realizes he really cant do much to Thor after being incapacitated repeatedly

Final battle thor stats he’s allowed to kill him meaning he’s going all out and kratos did not have killing intent nor was he blood thirsty like when he strangled heimdall. He completely blitzed Atreus, and yet a weaker Atreus in the previous GOW could easily tag Baulder, so best you get is stalemate.

We can’t tell because technically we are looking at the world through kratos’ eyes. But they scale way higher than you think. It’s like looking at dragon ball fights and saying they aren’t fast because we can see what they are doing. Like kratos struggling to open chest, but can hold up the world. It’s just the way the game decides to present things to us

It's been said that if Baldur took everything seriously, he could have killed Kratos and his son. Throughout the entire fight between Kratos and Baldur, Baldur does not take anything seriously unlike Kratos. What would happen if Baldur became strategic?

Do people not realise kratos’s “Spartan rage” is just how he used to be as young kratos he basically had Spartan rage active 24/7 throughout all the old games in this game it just shows a visual cue with the firery aura cuz if u read the god of war comics they explain kratos is holding back and pulling his punches so he doesn’t become the blood thirsty god he used to be and he’s calmer when he fights trying to outsmart duel his opponents rather than overpower them like he used to and he still can.

his spartan rage is basically all of the fallen spartans that fell to Zeus and other enemies, during his reign as god of war he summoned their collective rage as a wraith of sorts to fight at his behest. in the norse saga he is pretty much channeling them through his body. thats his godly power, he can either use it to enrage himself and gain massive power or to heal himself.

Idk I feel like Baldur might be stronger because when baldur hit kratos with his fist he went flying. When Thor hit kratos with mojnir he went flying but that’s also a hammer not his bare fist, and when Thor hit the big snake to send him back in time it was the hammer he hit him with not his fist so strength feats against kratos I would say baldur and after Kratos first fight with baldur he was limping away in pain while Thor he just grabbed his side then he was fine. Both fights are amazing though.

I think they're roughly equal. Thor while restrained was tanking blows from Spartan Rage Kratos, and he didn't feel compelled to break his restraint of not killing Kratos despite Kratos unleashing Spartan Rage. Now end of the game Kratos, complete with upgraded weapons, the spear, armor, that Kratos is more powerful than restrained Thor. He's roughly equal, if not slightly more powerful than all-out Thor. I can't say if end of the game Kratos is definitively more powerful than all-out Thor since Thor had just fought the elven army and the world serpent. And Thor only had Mjolnir, which Kratos could match with the Leviathan Axe alone. Even with the spear, the axe, and the blades, Thor was keeping up with Kratos. I think DanCo got the power ranking right. The only two Gods who I would consider to be definitively more powerful than both Thor and Kratos are Zeus and Odin. With Zeus, it took Kratos wielding the blade of Olympus to match him. And with Odin, it took three Gods, Kratos, Freya (the literal queen of the Vanir) and Atreus, to eventually beat him.

Especially since in the game Kratos didn’t really turn up till Thor said “allfather has plans for your boy” and then he punched his tooth out and Thor was like “There he is” pretty sure that was the game and it’s devs telling us Kratos holds back until Atreus is put into the mix. No Thor is far stronger, kratos was training in the 3 years so he's much stronger and more skilled then he was in 2018, I'll give you a example, Freya is known to be the strongest valkyrie even more then Sigrun yet when kratos was fighting Freya as a valkyrie he really didn't have any problems or troubles but when he was fighting Sigrun in 2018 it was hard for him to defeat, that's because Kratos now is more skilled.

Thor wins. But anyway Imagine thor actually started training and lost all the fat. His speed and strength would increase tremendously. Then became an expert at combat and stealth. Got a better weapon for combat. A godly Spear or a sword or stormbreaker and mastered it. Would be almost impossible to beat him at that point.
