I had my eye on the FTR in 2019 and held off because I felt like it needed that level of refinement mentioned, and I'm glad they lightened the bike up a bit and made the tweaks they have thus far. I think this will be my next street bike after I've finished riding my XSR900 into the dirt.

I own a 2022 FTR R Carbon and just Love it. Am 6’ 2”, 235 lbs, seat could be a little more comfortable and a bigger gas tank. With my height, I can be totally seating and both my feet totally touching ground. Colors and sound just Love them as well as the digital display. Never been able to use the Indian ride command with my helmet, just gave up on it. Now I just connect directly from phone 📱 to helmet ⛑️. Great acceleration, brakes and exhaust. It’s a Gorgeous bike all around!

Bought a new leftover 22 FTRs and couldn’t be happier. The suspension settings is critical to longer ride comfort. Prior to even checking where my settings were set from the factory/dealer it rode pretty good but I would start having some pain at around a constant hour of riding. Figured it was going to be a seat for the fix. Had a ride planned that should have been around 200miles coming up so I decided to go ahead and see where clickers and pre- loads were set. All were off some and the forks were actually pretty far off. After putting everything to factory settings… the ride became fantastic…. No seat replacement needed. The rear pre-load is very sensitive… a little goes a long way. Our 200mile trip turned into a 400mile day trip ride. I still cant get over the difference it made🤙🇺🇸 Still tweaking the settings a touch here and there as it gets broken in (740miles so far)😋

Almost on edge, for Carbon 2024 with Ohlins. Saw bike in person for first time. Been used to BWM electronic suspension and rider space to move or stand up on long rides. Just wondering if 400-500 miles ride possible with pro taper higher bars, a windshield, softer setting for suspension and wider rubber rider pegs....

I love the educational content embedded into a motorcycle review video. Good job Dan! Very unique format. I would not say those big bikes are necessarily beginner bikes but are very beginner friendly these days. When I got my KTM 790 ADV with all those electronic rider aides, coming from a bike with half the horse power, rain mode mode it amazingly simple until I got used to the new bike's controls and increased horse power. I can not imagine getting another bike without cornering ABS and all the other safety features, despite the price tag.

It is so fun when you feel you can lean more and then on your second pass on that curve you can achieve it. In the end, practice, practice, and practice. We have to challenge ourselves, stay comfortable still and yet get a little out of the comfort zone to gain experience. I feel we need to adopt the HHGTG mindset and "Don't Panic" - use the skills and adapt. Love you channel and watch all the time to maybe pick up a situational awareness. Motor on Dude. :)

I like the look and seat height of the 2019 model (I’m 6’2”). I have 2 bikes with 19 inch front tires and I like the semi-custom look of a 19”front tire. It takes a bit away from handling capabilities but I’m not racing on the street anyway. I like that the taller tire is better for potholes and bumps.

I just came around this very nice review and I fully agree with your critics on the 2019 models, especially the head dissipation. That is something I noticed also on a test ride I made about 2 years ago. It is good to hear that Indian worked on that and improved it. Anyhow, one thing I still do not like is the too small gas tank size of only 13 liters or about 3 gallons. In my opinion for a motorbike like this not enough for long cruises, meaning to stopp for gas about every 200km or 120 miles.
@benwells23383 жыл бұрын
I feel like Indian is the American motorcycle company Harley should be. Their product line management and figuring out what younger riders are actually excited about is far superior. You have the classic styles of the bikes of the past but with the power and electronics to lay down with any modern street bike from other manufacturers. IMO, Indian used to be “that other American motorcycle”, but now it rightfully has a place of its own as a stand out brand. Whatever they’re doing over at Indian, I hope they don’t stop anytime soon.

Good review DDTF. I'm hanging on to my '20 Rally for a while longer, but am really happy that Indian is investing in the FTR future. It really is a great motorcycle (even with the cold start issues I have). Also, it is an American motorcycle and that is another reason I'm excited about owning an FTR. Where I live (Northwest Arkansas) the nearest Ducati/Triump/BMW dealerships are over 100 miles away. I have an Indian dealer 15 miles from where I live and that is also an important factor in buying a motorcycle for me.

Hay mate Paul from Australia 🇦🇺, I’m glad the heat thing has been sorted as it can get quite hot 🥵 in Aussie in Summer. The only two issues I have with the Indian FTR the 19 and new 22 is 1. Small fuel ⛽️ range ( it’s such a shame they didn’t address this on the bike ) I had the same issue when I had a Ducati Scrambler 800 it only had about a 220km ( 110 mile ) Range . and 2. The limit of storage capacity on the bike for touring, with the left side being high pipes ! I know this adds to looks etc but a low pipe would give you the option of panniers both sides ( again my Ducati Scrambler had the same issue) I LOVE ❤️ the look 👀 of the bike but unfortunately for me so impracticable.

Happy to see the refinement. On the earlier models, I preferred the simple dash instrumentation and blackout look on the base model but was disappointed that the suspension wasn't adjustable (in the just the back I think). I'll definitely give it another look even though it's a tick or two above my preferred spending price. Loved the review Dan and love that Indian invited some of my favorite content creators and maybe introduce me to a few more. Cheers. PS really like that luggage rack/ top case config.

A $16,000 500-pound bike for beginners? Homey don't think so. The best beginner bike is your friend's used Dual Purpose under 400 lb motorcycle you can drop five or six times as you learn the basics before you progressed on to something as Cherry as a new bike. I agree with you the refinements on this bike it really made it come onto its own and they should have had all this at the start. No longer a rough approximation and it looks cleaner too.
