Dandy Dan Tribute

Audio & Video Memories of Dandy Dan Daniel, one of the early Good Guys at Fabulous 57 wmca in New York City. He was also on WHN, WYNY and, most recently, WCBS-FM. A southern boy from Texas who took on The Big Apple and never looked back! Dan was 82.

I worked with Triple D at WYNY in the early 90s. Not only was he a great jock, but also one of the nicest, most decent, and kindest gentlemen I've ever had the pleasure to work with. Rest in peace, Dan. You are missed.

Dan and I woked together at WYNY and CBS-FM. We were also good friends. The last time we spoke was shortly before he passed away. He was really one of the "good guys" in this industry.

Having listened to Dan's son Chris on KMJ 580 for years, one can see where Chris got his talent from. The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree is surely the case here. Chris....what a GREAT tribute to your father. I'm sure you are proud of all he accomplished in his lifetime, and he will be missed by many. To you Chris, our thoughts and prayers.

Had been thinking about what a wonderful & lasting presence Dandy Dan had been in my memory band and hit KZbin to hear "Where Were You When the Lights When Out". I was truly saddened to learn here of his passing , but very touched by this thoughtful tribute. Dan was one of the radio legends whom those who experienced him will hold in their hearts forever, and he was just as gracious and nice in person and was there during one of country radio's great renaissances! Rest in Peace, with great love Triple D; you were more than a DJ you were a friend! And it's for sure whatever Heaven is, it is indeed where this great man is now that his lights have gone out!

The New Jersey Country Music Association sends it's deepest message of loss of an Icon. Personally I and Jackie spent many hours wit Dan at multiple events all over the Tri State area. Many hours in the studio was also logged by us and our members. There are no words that can possibly fit the World's loss of his voice on the air. My personal prayers to his family especially Chris, Your Dad was a one-of-a kind.

Chris because of your father many many peoples lives were made to feel that much better. I can’t really find the words on how to explain right now but boy do you have a lot to be prouder of. I was a WMCA Good Guy at the tender age of 4 yes 4 years old I would always ask my PoP to put 57 on the Radio we even called in and had the WMCA Tee Shirts ,I remember when most of the guys from WMCA made the move to WABC 77 AM radio back in the day was great and Dandy Dan & Bruce Marrow were the best jocks on the Air God Bless Dandy Dan Daniel you will be missed

When I was in high school my sister and I was a Good Guy groupie! BMR and Dandy Dan brought us back stage for the Rock and Roll shows at the NY Paramount. Years later I ran into Dan at a concert and he remember me. Such a nice man!

This was beautiful. So awesome to be able to see my Uncle Dan is action and enjoying his work so much! He was a wonderful, sweet, and loving man and I am honored and proud to have grown up with our families so close. God speed, Uncle Dan. they're all gone...ingram, lundy, daniel, crocker, harrison, imus, jeff troy and even a guy i got on the skip - herb jepko - used to listen to him late at night. now, some stations don't even have jocks - a tape says what the tune was. ugh. i don't have satellite in my car, so i'm stuck with this "new" radio.

So many of these giants of the medium of have gone to that big radio studio in the sky. A little bit of our past is dying. I remember him from WABC & WCBS. He had a nice delivery. This is when radio was a force for good. 😐📻🎼

Dan Daniel was also the only one time game show announcer. The only game show he ever did announced was The Big Showdown, which was hosted by Jim Peck.

I produced an annual radiothon to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in the 1990s along with the staff and radio personalities of WYNY 103.5. Each year we raised in excess of $1 million in pledges. No one was more dedicated to that event and to St. Jude than Dan Daniel. I always estimated that half the pledges were made by people wanting to support St. Jude and half made by people who responded simply because Dan asked them to contribute. You're lucky if you get to meet a few very special people in your lifetime. Dan was one of them. He'll always be remembered. Rich Brown

I had spent time with Dan, while he was at WYNY. Contests, Personal Appearances, St. Judes Radiothons, and more. He was a Gentle Giant, and a Dear Friend, in many ways. I especially remember when my Dad passed. Dan wanted to talk to me every day, to be sure I was doing ok. I really hold the memory of the day I saw him, after my Dad passed. A Huge Hugg, Kind Words, and a Prayer. Most Definitely a Great Man, and a Great Friend. May You Rest In Peace, My Friend.
