@@isaoholmes2007 Every comic, future and past steal from other comics, either material they put their spin on (taking videos, ip, etc and tweaking it so that it's different in a court of physical items makes it a new thing even if you see the original thing underneath), comedic delivery, or even riffs of looks other comics have. It just depends how big they get as to whether or not you see it.

Comedians like Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, they all brought energy. Don’t get me wrong we still have some great comedians and story tellers today, but at the end of his shows Dane looks like he just ran a 5k

Joe went hard after Mencia, I haven't heard about his beef with Cook but I have no reason not to believe it either. Rogan even said something like "I've never heard someone be called a joke thief if they weren't stealing jokes" but he sure backpedaled and made excuses when Schumer was accused.

He's very arrogant I remember hearing Marc talk about how Cook accused some comedian of "stealing his essence" on Marc Maron's podcast. It's been a couple of years since I heard that podcast but I believe Marc had the comic on and they were talking about Cook accusing him. It was just bizarre. Again, I obviously don't know the guy but he comes across as arrogant and a control freak in interviews. When so many people in your industry don't like you.....something's up.

Never hated the guy, when I was in 8th grade I remember sitting on the couch with my mom and brothers watching vicious circle and thinking how I just witnessed one of the greatest live stand-ups of all time (to me it felt that way, never got to see Carlin or Patrice O'neal live on television). As I grew older and Dane fell off I never relived his old material because it wouldn't have the same effect now as it did then. Happy to see he's still around, hope he makes a return to form or maybe does more podcast. His voice gives me a sense of nostalgia, like hearing a old friend you haven't spoke to in a while.

Gonna say it, I remember watching that special when it came out and thinking it was Cook's worst. After that he went from "one of the best" to "just okay" in my book but to hear that a lot of it was improv is pretty cool. The bits do meander and once Dane latches onto something the audience likes you can tell he leans into it.

My reasoning for not liking his comedy is how over the top and just flat out childish he acts. It seems like he's appealing to the type of audience that finds a loud set of jingly keys entertaining. All the stomping around, running, yelling, i find it very childish. His jokes aren't funny, it's funny because he's yelling and jumping around while he says them.

This makes a lot of sense. I saw his rough around the edges show live in Indianapolis. Later, when I watched the dvd of his MSG performance I couldn't help but think the show I witnessed in person was much better. I just found out the show I went to was nearly a year after he recorded at MSG. He did basically the same jokes, but they were more polished by the time he got to Indianapolis and there were more gems thrown in there. Wish I had a full video of it.

It’s one thing to hone a set on paper and at clubs. It takes incredible courage to get up and do a set you know is solid, but to write half of it in the moment is another level of artistry. It’s amazing to me that some people can make that work so well. It’s like a circus without a net. I’m not a fan of Cook but I appreciate his talent as a performer.

I remember when I first saw Dane on a cable special. First time I ever heard his name. I thought he was fantastic. Then I began to hear his name again. This time it was all negative comments. I couldn't understand what they were seeing that I didn't. I guess I didn't see their jealously. Hope he does some more acting. I loved the Mr Brooks work.

Vicious Circle was one of the first specials I ever watched and my older brothers and I DIED it was so funny. We quoted it religiously. It was peak comedy for its time and idc 🤷🏽♀️
