Dane Gore-Tex Pro Motorcycle Jacket Waterproof Test

There are many manufacturers of adventure motorcycle jackets which claim their product is waterproof. Adventure Bike Shop are the sole distributor of Dane Bike Wear in Australia. Dane is a brand you may not have heard of, but don't let that worry you. Dane has a fantastic reputation in Europe, do your own research on the internet and you'll see what we mean.
We all know GoreTex is the "Gold Standard" for textile motorbike jackets. Klim has been making jackets with GoreTex forever and its no mistake they have a great name for quality products.
There is a new type of GoreTex on the market, it is called GoreTex Pro, it has the same wonderful waterproof and durability features with the added protection for sliding on the bitumen. The Pro adds extreme protection and durability to the range.
We know they are just words and you would prefer action so in order to demonstrate how water proof the Dane Jackets are we've put this waterproof torture test video together.

Didn't know the brand as noob motorcyclist (obviously) I got a one time only offer from our bike shop so I got a Ragnar jacket now, also with GoreTex and didn't look any further, I drove it trough our typical Belgian summers so hail, storms, downpours name it, always kept me dry and warm even below freezing point. Guys and girls do the investment, worth every penny!!

i would like to have and try one of the dane jacket in malaysia some time we have a havy downpour of rain well talking riding a bike a lot of rain jacket fails...

sono interessato a questa giacca.. come si comporta durante un viaggio lungo ? con molta pioggia ci sono infiltrazioni dal collo o dalle cerniere? se non piove, ha delle prese d'aria per il caldo? com'è la vestibilità?

i didnt know you can ride motorcycle with hands down that way for full 7 mins. water always enter from the cuff and slowly upwards.

The water coming up the arms is very difficult to stop, but that doesn't mean the jacket itself is not water proof. This jacket does have a solution that works with some gloves, so if you were keen to keep the water from going up your arms, the type of glove you use would be an important choice paired with this jacket.

Riding a motorcycle in all Climates I learned a lot. here are Why I would NEVER buy this Dane jacket and pay a bit more and go for Klim instead: Not enough wents, arms specially and rear exhaust are horizontal which w backpack is 0.0, after adjusting on arms with those uneffective "snaps" three positions only! after I saw the premium price they ask for 990 euros and where is the KLIM absolutely better: heaps of wents all well positioned, 3L gore, way more protective(super fabric) D3O L2, adjustments are straps without buckles, the belt is inside the jacket and they ask only 100 euros more. Still, I am using 3 layers system which just sucks (Lindstrands) and my next is KLIM for sure, I will spend those 1.9k in badlands combo and get much more.

And then you try the Klim on and realise just how much heavier it is. OK so this Dane jacket is not for everyone, that is why they have a whole range of jackets to choose from.

Dane can have whole range of everything but I asking ONLY for multipurpose jacket in adv category, and sorry Jacket here is useless. i riding often between South Spain and central Europe and dane CAN'T do it simply. Apart Klim I believe only Touratech rambler can do it

@@michsky46 That's a big statement to say this jacket is useless. I think you have missed the whole point of this video, which is to show how waterproof the jacket is. Not once do we say the jackets is a four seasons jacket. It does get too hot in summer, because it doesn't have enough vents. I have another jacket which is an all year round jacket which I've ridden in temperatures ranging from 44 degrees celsius to -3 degrees celsius. But as soon as i needed to ride in the rain for longer than an hour it would be leak.

@@RodneyBrown21 no I didn't miss the point. I do understand they wanna show up the WP of the jacket. But Jacket is presented as Touring/Adv top end jacket, right? Believe me when you crossing spain and u have no sleeve vents you will sweat as little pig. KLIM, Touratech are WP to but tough to details. Otherwise I fully believe that This Dane jacket is very well made.

@@RodneyBrown21 yes, it could be if it rains vertical on the ground from cloud but your "rain" falls vertical to the back and horizontal to the ground. Your test is nice try. I give u thumbs up, but it could be done much better and more realistic. My critics is to improve your work not to derogate, depriciate

7min blasting all around, so.... it is 3min of heavy rain 100kmh on the one part of the jacket. Id you drive under rain you know what area of jacket is targeted with water, shoulders, neck, upper hand. 65% of your water preassure is on the chest

I own this jacket and I've ridden in rain for 6 hours and at the end of the day I had a little water came up my forearms, no water down my neck and dry everywhere else. It is water proof and it works, we didn't want to stand there for 6 hours with the high-pressure hose did we? What more do you want us to do? Also have you done a test on the pressure of heavy rain? I'd like to see the evidence that 3 minutes of heavy rain is equivalent to 7 minutes of high pressure spray. You are guessing aren't you?

@@RodneyBrown21 I have not riden 6h but I do not hide from the rain. Make video about this 6 hours, about gloves, boots on that ride. Interesting experience. I do not have equipment to make ytb review. I have old Klim Badlands gtx pro jacket and now recently purchased brand new Alpstars Big Sur gtx pro suit. Alternative was Dane Sealand but seller was complicated and slow with discounts I have Dane Byge, Dane gtx gloves, so I am Dane fun.
