Today I decided to try using it as a weedwacker but hubs is not here. You are my video hubs. Daneal, Thank you for your thorough demonstration of this Worx combo item. I bought this item yesterday at Lowe's. I was able to put both items together pretty easily, just as you demonstrated. BUT, the one think that scared me, and for which you put my mind at ease, was angling the trimmer to about 45 degrees to do normal grass cutting. So, I tried to do it about 10 minutes ago and in the initial movement it sounded like it broke, but it didn't. I think it was just tight. Now all the adjustments for trimming are easier. I thank you for giving me the guts to step on the back of half circle trimmer guard and just do it. LOL Jim OK

I have had the Worx edger trimers for a while now and have not had a problem using that method to make an adjustment. The other thing you will find strange if you do find yourself using the command line feed don't panic when the trimmer shuts off when you push it that's normal. It's adjusting the gear to advance the trimmer line when you release it will advance the line out. Im totally sold on the worx products Just bought my second 20v trimmer leaf blower combo , the first set lasted almost 5 years ,even with a modified line spool that let me run bigger cord.I get my 3/4 acre yard and pond done with 2 batteries and the blowerworks great for drying up my just washed pickup truck with no water spots. Gets rid of leaves that get packed in the fenders and vents.and starts every time! Gonna get one of their chain saws too.

Thanks for this video...the thing I can't find tho within any of the comments, or even from the video, is this: Does the trimmer in the video (looks like WG163.9 model) use the "Free spools of string for life" type of string? I think it does, but even on the WORX website it does NOT specifically mention the WG 163.9, in their huge list of which trimmers it applies to, which is the one I just received in my COMBO pack...got the blower too. According to the Amazon description, where I ordered it from, it said that it came with 3 spools of string, but it did not, and also, in your video, you didn't "Unbox" any extra spools of line, so...I'm guessing that in real life, it does NOT come with any extra spools of line. Right? But it does take the "Free spools for life" string??? And not, as is mentioned on the WORX website, the spools of string that cost $89.99 for 2 spools??? How can that even be? Really...look at their website; that's what it says. It's confusing... Thanks for you help. Looking forward to your reply...

Really...because I tried contacting WORX themselves because this trimmer (WG163.9) wasn't even listed as one of the ones that takes the free spools for life...there's no way to get hold of WORX except by calling and I can't call from my house bec I have no cell signal...so I super appreciate your response. Yes, it helped... I do still wonder what those other $89.99 spools could possibly be for...and how can a couple spools of line cost so much?? Makes no sense at all to me. In any case, I really appreciate this initial unboxing of the WG163.9 trimmer; like somebody else said, it is the only one we could find, and it was really good. So, Thanks again.

The one I have the trimmer side is the edger, the edger is the trimmer.. whoever put it together set it up all wrong, the wire that run inside the pole get crank up when you push the handle down to make it shorter...

Most of my Worx products come directly from Worx.com I have purchased one or two from Lowes. The Worx site usually has something discounted, sign up for email so you don't miss out on any specials. The first time you sign up will usually give you 10% off, then there is an occasional 15% or other specials. In regards to what to buy how big is your yard? This will dictate what to buy if your yard is really large you may just need to understand that you may need to change batteries at some point to complete the job. I would say my yard is average and I can get through the yard on one charge with both devices. I do use the 40 volt edger trimmer primarily which gives me two to three uses. When the leaves are falling heavy I have to change batteries to complete the yard. I know this is a lot of info but I hope this helps. Is there a big difference in your opinion between the worx 20volt battery and the 40volt battery? I know the 40 volt battery runs longer but do you see a difference with the power like in the blower power? Thanks

Hi Laura, thanks taking the time to make a comment. Yes you do get a little more power out of the 40 volt in the edger. The turbo blower is very impressive for a 20 volt tool. Didn't have any problems with it moving debris even twigs. If you have a big yard and or lots of trees you may want to consider the turbine 56 volt by #Worx. There is no way you can rotate the shaft on the unit we received! It will slide up and down easily but it will not rotate.

All of these new trimmers with auto-feed sucks. It has taken away the control from the operator. I find this causes unnecessary line feeding, thus causing the operator to go through a spool in just two settings. I have to tape over the auto feeding arm inside the feeder line compartment. This auto-feed seems to be beneficial to the feeder line business, and not necessarily a plus for the user. The old tap and go feed gave 100% control to the user, and I miss that. They could have left off the centrifugal auto-feed, when you stop, but allowed you to have the command feed button to do the same 100% control as the old tap and go.

Thanks for watching and the comment. You are correct with complete auto line feeders. This is not that, the bump on the ground action is now replaced by a button. You push the button when you need more line. The auto function just keeps the line tight basically. Now the auto feed though called auto feed is actuated by a button. On the new yard which is a lot bigger then previous a spool last a little over a month. ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4SXlKqKfZmdhbM )Last yard two to three months. So trust me you're not just quickly going through spools and no crazy bumping just the press of a button. Hope this helps.
